Choosing a In-Dash Navigation

Okay guys, thinking of getting an
Alpine 7" In-Dash Double-DIN Multimedia Car Deck (IVA-W505)

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...55&catid=20136

Or maybe the IVA W205, since its cheaper.
Does anyone have the Alpine IVA W505? Would it fit in my 99TL?
What system do you currently have and any reviews on it would be helpful. Pictures too!

If everyone could write reviews about the systems they are currently using, pros and cons of it. Maybe we can make this thread a sticky, since what I'm asking gets asked alot. I have tried searching! but doesnt seem to work properly anymore...or the threads dont exist.

Thanks!
SS

i dont get it. i was reading a review of this on crutchfield and it lloks like you have to buy the blackbird II to get navigation, is that right. its listed at $500 for the navi part only.

i could be wrong.

Ya the black bird II is extra, its basically a hard drive that you can insert into the system. Thats why I was considering the older model IVA 205. Or even something else once I get some reviews of other systems. Maybe the Eclipse AVN5495?...not many good reviews on crutchfield.

Too pricy, I wouldn't install it. Someone is likely to rip it out on you.

All of them are cheaper then that one I believe, and FYI BestBuy jacks up their prices.

i think if you wanna go with a double din, you should go with a pioneer avic series. there are alot of members on azine that use pioneers and love them.

if you want a hard disk , which is very useful, and you dont need double din i would suggest jvc exad kd-nx 5000. i have this unit and can use gps while listening to music, its a great and underrated headunit. check it out.

I have been looking at the new Pioneer Avic F900BT or F90BT, it is a hard drive based navigation system. Which is what I have really been looking for, and the interface seem very simple and easy to use. I checked it out at best buy/future shop last night, very nice. Though it has some software problems with load time, but pioneer came out with an update for it I believe. Now the only difference I can tell from the F90BT and the F900BT, is:

F900BT has Preout Voltage 2.2V, 1k Ohm
F90BT has Preout Voltage Hi-Volt 4.0V

What difference does the preout make?

I know its on the expensive side, so do you guys think insurance would cover it if I have comprehensive coverage? or do I have to inform them that I want the system covered?

sadly to say, but it was me....

My advice would be to invest in a 2 way pager alarm first, and then make sure you have comprehinsive insurance and only then get a double din navi.

Also, I had a pioneer Z1, which is supposed to be the top of the line system they offer, and the navigation is amazing, along with all the other feauters it had. They dont sell the Z1 anymore because they have the Z3 now, which is basically the same thing expcept newer maps...

If you go with Pioneer, then definitily go with the F90BT as its just as good as the z1/z3 and is half the price, you can get one on eBay for aroind $800 with a 1 year warranty

was thinking about getting the AVIC-F700BT (the replacement for the AVIC-D3), but this thing doesn't play dvd(s)....wth? The D3 was under $900 and it played dvd, this thing is the same price and is toted as being better, but how is that possible if it doesn't even play dvd movies... that is the main reason for a double din (aside from navigation)....

Its made by clarion. just as an extra feature you can buy the navi and plug it up to the headunit. I wouldn't say its an external navi since it has no screen and is just made for that unit
