Question Changing Springs

I'm almost completely clueless when it comes to some areas of a car.

I would like to know if I could purchase springs such as Neuspeed or H&R for my TL. Can I use them with my original shocks? Could someone please give me a brief explanation of what makes up the suspension on our TLs.

My goal would be to lower the car and get rid of the gap that the original springs have. Am I on the right track?

Confused.....

Although this topic has been beaten to death, it's still kinda vague (from my experience on searching info on here). You basically have 3 types of springs which are popular around here.

H&R OE gives you a minor drop of about .75 inches
Comptech Sport gives you a drop of about 1.5/1.75 inches
H&R Sport gives you an even lower drop around 1.75+ inches.

Your shocks will wear out faster with any of these but it also depends on the kind of roads you drive on. Also note that when you install springs, your camber may change (every car is different).

I have comptechs with stock rims and I didn't need a camber kit.... But every car is different... Similar to stock comfort but definitely better handling...

With comptech people have gone 50k+ with stock shocks. Depends on how you drive and the roads you drive on...

I might be wrong but I think if your shocks go while the car is under warranty ACURA should warranty them... Don't quote me...

If you have the money I would go with Coilovers(Adjustable Springs and Shocks Combo). You can get a set of Tein SS for around $850. Depending on how low you go will determine if you need a camber kit or not. My advice would be to wait a couple of weeks after you get your Springs or Coilovers installed and let them settle, then go and get an alignment and see how out of spec you are. Most likely if you go more then 1" or so you will need one, atleast for the rears. And it's better to spend $150 for a camber kit(SPC) now then to have to buy new tires every year. We know how expensive they are.

A good rule of thumb is new OEM shocks last about 100k but if you install lowering Springs and keep the OEM shocks, cut it in half, about 50k.
