Talking Changing Oil Filters

I'm not a fan of the OEM Honeywell/Fram oil filters designed for my 1999 TL. The filters have card board end caps and cheap internal components. I would like to switch from the FRAM 15400-PLM-A02 to the Toyo Roki 15400-PCX-004 OEM designed for the Honda S2000. Can anyone tell me if this filter will cause a problem. Its a shorter filter but much larger it diameter. It's also constructed of superior components and made in Japan. I'm concerned about the pressure required for the by-pass valve to open on the filters. Dirty oil lubrication is better than no lubrication. bobistheoilguy.com

the best filters are the mobil 1 m104, or the larger m105, or the amsoil filters.

also dont worry about filtration. ived been using the fram filters for 167,000 miles at a average of 8000 miles per oil change with out a problem! (and they have been tested fine)

oil filters

Try using Honda's 15400-PLM-A01. It is made by Filtech, this company has been making oil filters for Honda for awhile now. I agree with you on the Fram Filters, I won't use them on my 99 and 02 Accords or the TSX.

I use the Amsoil SDF20. There is an oversized version of the SDF20 that supposedly will fit the TL as well but when I tried it, it didn't fit right on my car .. Didn't want to take the chance so I stuck with the SDF20.

You can order the SDF20s online from Amsoil.com directly.

I would use the Mobil 1 filters, but they're so hard to find!

BTW- I own an S2000 and I don't think the Honda OEM oil filters on the S2000 will fit on a TL. I haven't tried it, but I know the Amsoil SDF20 filters I have won't fit on the S2000, so it seems to me it wouldn't work the other way as well.

Also try "PureOne" from purolator. Got a good review from one of the filter review on the web.
