Question Changing Fuel Filter

Is replacing our fuel filter part of our regular maintenance? If so, how often do you change it and where is it located? I have 40,000 miles right now on my car. My last automobile was a 1991 Toyota 4Runner which has 300,000 miles and still running "knock on wood"
I've always replaced the fuel filter about every 20,000 miles.

Thanks guys!

How do you think I got my truck to last for about 300,000 miles?

Always changed oil at 3000k..That's a must!

Anyway... Does anyone have any answers about the fuel filter?

Its in the fuel tank and when clogged your fuel pressure will drop - dealer can test for this. I'd ignore it!

If you want, you can put an aftermarket in-line fuel filter since I doubt you want to be going into the tank to change it.

Very nice on the truck BTW

Good question! My rule of thumb was always every 30k, along with the air filter.

Actually the full 30k I always perfomed on my older car was fuel & air filters, spark plugs, tranny fluid, and coolant flush. A LONG (but FUN) day!

Not sure what to do on the TL - I'll probably follow the maint. schedule - but it doesn't mention fuel filters...

Are you sure? I've seen them for sale, and the pics looked like an in-line type...

Are you sure is in the tank?? I know the FUEL PUMP is in the tank, but I'm not sure about the filter. I will find out tomorrow.

Nope it's in the engine bay. Look at the front right corner of the intake manifold and you'll see it.

The fuel filter is a non-maintainence item. Have it replace when you replace your timing belt. ~80,000 miles should be OK.
