To change the tranny filter or not to?

Not hard to change, Mine had never been changed to my knowledge, so I did it with the 3x3.

I've changed the filter a few times, I know how but I was wondering what people on here thought about changing it with the fluid. I change my fluid every 10k but just started thinking about changing the filter at the same time since they are only $15 on amazon

I changed mine about 10K miles ago. It did not really change anything for me on shift quality. However, it should be changed maybe every ?50K miles? and wouldn't hurt to do it. It took me about 45min and would've taken only 30min if I removed my battery when doing the job. The filter itself should be available online for around ~$20.
It's a pretty easy job.
EDIT: just saw your reply. I don't think it's necessary to change it that much - if you're really concerned then maybe look at adding a magnefine filter.

new fluid and new filter is always a good plan
With the amount of crud we know is circulating inside the trans, having a fresh filter able to capture those bits is well worth the amazon price.
I am guessing these filters have a bypass valve like the engine ones have.
When the filter gets full, that valve sends all fluid past the filter- not thru it- once its full/clogged.
Better dirty oil/pressure than no oil pressure~
For all we know that filter was clogged 4 years ago!
Only a lab test will tell~ Cutting the old one open can be educational,,,or scary

Thank you all for your advise and opinion! I feel since my trans having over 120k that it needs to stay clean as possible for smooth operation. I've been trying to write a maintenance plan of my own that is a lot more intense and make sure the car lasts a long life and for my own peace of mind as I will rely on this car for the rest of high school and college. I would think 10k fluid changes and new filter ever other change(20k) would be a good idea. But that's my opinion and would like to hear from anyone else that might read this thread and have a better plan!
