Cat back exhaust recommendations

Hey Guys,

On my way into work this morning I noticed a different sound from the exhaust. I haven't done any investigating yet but one quick glance shows that the left muffler is hanging at a weird angle. Looks like the snow bank I backed into last year has finally resulted in an unintended muffler delete

I'd like to get some recommendations on a new cat-back exhaust system for my TL (current OE w/ 177K miles). I like the idea of a high-flow cat (if it makes sense) + replacement O2 sensors.

I like the sound of ATLP/XLR8 systems but I don't think they're in production for the 2G anymore. I don't really like drone-y exhausts I hear on a lot of Hondas (especially 4-Cy like civics) but you guys are the experts on what sounds good so I'll take any recommendation. I don't think that straight pipes are legal for me in Utah. My goal would be for more of a "tuned" sound rather than volume, if that makes sense.

Thanks everybody!

I think at this point and time in the 2G's life, it would be best to custom build an exhaust system.it would be way less money than a brand named catback

you can do so by visiting an exhaust shop on a slow day and voice your wants!
they'll be able to help you design something or simply cut out some resonators for you

You could do an axle back straight pipe. Or even making a custom 2.5 inch magnaflow exhaust. Buy the magnaflow resinator and mufflers along with a 2.5 inch tru bends off eBay. That should make it have a nice roar with little drone

Check out Truebendz. I built my 3" SS cat back with 2 mufflers for less that $600 total.

trubendz is another option!
except, he'll still have to get an exhaust shop to weld on flanges and tips.

Custom exhaust sounds like your best bet if you don't want to spend on name brands, unless you want to. High-flow cat is optional but that's your call.

tsudo makes and axle back for the 2gen tl and it looks sweet and is only 300 ish depending on where you get it. thats what i plan to get to give a small sound increase and looks better. i know its not a full exhaust like op wants but still something to consider..
