car stalling while driving and the dealer's suggestion
I have a weired problem with my acura tl99. Very rarely, but more often recently, the car would just stall while driving. Its a dangerous situation since you have to park it and restart it. When it stalls , the green key sybol is flashing in the panel. not sure of other indicators. But then it re-starts right away. Sometimes, it takes 5-6 attempts to start the car. not sure if it is related to stalling as well. I do have error P1457 not sure if it is related too ![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
So I took the car to the dealer. he suggested changing the "Immobilizer". He asked me if I have tried the other spare key, which I already did. so the key going bad is unlikely. You think the dealer is right to suggest changing the Immobilizer? estimate is 280$

First check if you've had the ignition switch recall for your 1999 TL taken care of yet. Acura can tell you this when you give them your VIN number.
I would suspect a failing ignition switch before worrying about the immobilizer.
My 1999 TL had very similar symptoms last year that were due to a failing ignition switch.
My ignition switch was replaced under the recall and it was the replacement that was failing. So don't rule out the ignition switch if you've had it replaced under the recall.
Sure, it could be a problem with the immobilizer system but I would guess that the ignition switch is a more likely source of the problem.

sorry forgot to mention that the reacall was performed 16000 miles/2.5 years ago. They did replace the ignition switch. Also, forgot to mention that I changed the battery myself and after that it stalled more often. may be just a coincedence or may be a relation :?

Check all battery connections to make sure they are all tight.
2nd, many have had the recalled ignition replacement go bad.
