yep motor mounts- first thing to check-!
the front and passenger side are favorites to replace when the trans goes out- thats when they are discovered--- so who knows how long they were broken!

The front and rear mount are fluid filled! they leak- look for spots on ground in driveway
Some years ALSO have a VAC booster to the front/rear mounts that tightens them up when engine vac increase with throttle- if that leaks you get a mystery miss as well

be aware- that fluid filled mount... cost is 100-120 USD$$$$$ the side mount 35-50 for the part itself

yea thats what I told him but I guess it makes sense if he keeps turnin it on and on when he goes around to do stuff......he says it feels like its gonna turn off...like a manual car thats gonna stall and shut off.

timing belt might be off.

it happened on my car too. it shakes a little when I first started the car. I took it to the shop and they found the front engine mount worn out and timing belt was off.

fixed and run smooth after the timing belt, water pump and engine mount replaced. Expensive though :-)
