Car alarm recommendation...

I have a 2003 TL and would like to add a monitor that warns people when they get too close to the vehicle, as well as sounds when a window is tampered with or broken. Are there any systems that will integrate with the system already installed to do this? What do you all recommend as far as what brand to get and where to buy it? My 8 day old car has already been broken in to. Are Acura's high on the list for break-ins/theft?

Thanks!

Wow! I can't believe nobody's responded to your post. Well here's what I know:

First, I don't know of any GOOD aftermarket systems that will integrate with the stock Acura "theft deterrent" system. In my case, my aftermarket alarm system became my "primary" alarm system so I no longer used the Acura key fobs to open doors, etc.

Second, I'm running with a CompuStar alarm setup and love it. Other folks on the board are running with a Viper setup. Visit viper.com and compustar.org for info and store locations.

Third, Acura break-ins depend on your part of the country. Not very many where I live. Thank God! But other folks can barely get out of their cars before someone's trying to steal it (or the headlights).

Good luck with your decision,

V.
