Can't believe it ! No Warranty after replacement

I brought my TL-p 02 to the dealer today to have the transmission replace under the extended warranty ( my end on Fev/2009) .
To my total surpris , there's no warranty on the replacement after Fev/09 ? So I call Acura Canada and they told me their responsibility end on Fev/09 and there is no kind or what so ever warranty on the remanufactured transmi !
Did you guys have a minimum 1year/12k miles warranty in U.S. ?
I wonder any of you guys has problem with the replaced transmi in short term
after ?
STILL CAN NOT BELIEVE IT ! NO WARRANTY

Depending on how much you pay for your replacement trans is how much you will get in warranty.

$1K = 12 months
$2K = 24 months
$3K = 36 months

AFAIK, Canadian owners have A LOT more trouble getting their trans replaced since they are through Acura Canada and not Honda of America.

Replaced under extended warranty = no charge to you, correct?

If so, nope, didn't get a warranty on my replaced one either.

Problems with the replaced one? People on here have been telling me it's not a problem but my torque converter acts funny (as in it never did it before the trans & old torque converter were replaced).

So if you get your trans replaced under goodwill, there is no warranty on it?

This isnt new. Most of the time the trans wont come with any warranty other than whats left on the extended. Now if you have to pay to get one it usually comes with it. Sometimes the dealer will work with you and give you one.

I did ask them if they offer any kind of warranty for the replaced transmi and they reply
no no from Acura Canada .
Now I wonder if I should wait 1 other month until the extended warranty expire then bring it in so Acura will goodwill and I will happy to pay the % so they could give me a warranty on the replaced transmi . Does make any sens to me !!????
I think all garage should give warranty at least 3 months/5000km for any repair in our
cars. And Acura will not give any warranty on their fix or repair .

If you wait until the extended warranty expires, you run the risk of having to pay the whole amount due.. not all dealers will "goodwill" a transmission to someone out of warranty.. especially in Canada.

Do you guys see any different between " goodwill = 3/36 " and " warranty =0" transmi ?
Are they has been remanufactured the same ways and quality ?
I don't see any different then why Acura will not stand by their transmi ?

August of last year. Been thinking about making sure this torque converter is normal by visiting the dealer but they're far so I've been putting it off. The new transmission is pretty rough in the cold, though this is my first Winter with it but again I've read that's normal. It has slipped a couple times too. If I have to replace anything and it's not free...no can do.

You can't really demand goodwill......

lol, only three occurrences of 'transmission' in this thread.

I would NOT wait till your past and try to get it good willed. You may run the risk of having to pay for it all. Bring it in and have it replaced.

Canadians get screwed by auto warranties. For some reason they're actually better across the boarder. Maybe more of us sue.

Yeah it shifts smooth after it warms up. The shift points seem to vary though with the same level of pressure on the gas pedal. Sometimes it'll rev to 3K, sometimes as low as 2.25K.

its not the dealer who does the goodwill- its acura corp of whatever country
Expecting it is crazy- get in under warranty while you can
If they cant find the problem now- they have leeway if it fails just after limits

USA gets it more coverage opportunities due to the court case- and those getting goodwill are mostly 03s that were not covered VIn in the original settlement

in the USA, the warranty units are supposed to carry a 12/10kmile warranty on the unit itself
Check your state law regarding parts installed at licensed shops
Corp may want to think they can say no warranty- but state laws often require a minimum 30 or 90 day parts and labor warranty by the shop and/or parts suppler

Goodwill isnt always free, and the usa recently its been a 3/36 available to purchase for $300 if you paid $500 or more towards the trans/labor

Actually guys it is a 3 year / 36k warranty no matter how much you pay. Even if its only $1 or $4000. As long as you pay a dime of the price you receive the warranty. IF Acura pays ALL of the costs for the re-manufactured tranny there is no warranty available to the customer.

I mentioned this in a thread this week. That if you're not a regular customer at that particular dealer(i.e only show up for free oil changes) or are the 2nd owner of the car and are anything higher then 5K past the 114k extended warranty, you basically have no chance at getting anything better then 25% warranty. I'm a damn employee and I still barely got a 50/50 deal because I am the 2nd owner of my car and was 6k past the warranty.

If the transmission has slipped a few times, meaning it revs without shifting or doesnt move forward for the amount of gas pedal, or going up a hill it slips and revs--
get it to the dealer today
Tell the Service Manager to keep it overnight and drive it home if needed
Make arrangement/APPOINTMENT to drop it off- explain you live x distance and would really appreciate a loaner car-
try dropping off midweek when they have more loaners and ask if the Head Tech can go for a ride with you.
It may only take 15 minutes for the tech to run around the block- get it to slip and pull a code- tell the manager, and they put you in the loaner..same as last time eh?
Good Luck

wait a second-
acurabum,, I didnt read in your post that the trans is acting up

Did you go in and ask for a replacement trans JUST because your warranty is about to expire?
Is the trans failing or not?

In another post , i did mention that my trans is acting up . When cold the 3th gear rev up a few hundred rpm before going to 4th .when hot the trans shift smooth like nothing was happen !!!!
The first Acura dealer could not find any wrong with it 'cause the engine was warm when the service manager and I did the test drive .
So I take it to a second dealer and leave it overnite and they said trans is slipping after 15 min of test drive .......
I got a question : goodwill (with warranty) or under warranty ( no warranty ) they gonna install the same remanufactured trans and torque converter , right ???????

SLCTL : I hope some how I could pay in order to get the warranty ...

i am not a regular customer.
i never paid anything
they automatically said there was a 3/36 warranty when i brought it in after the 2nd trans died.
i am a 3rd owner.
i didnt give the service manager a blowjob
the current service manager was new
and the service advisor did all the legwork this time...

I'm in Canada and I just had my transmission replaced at my local Acura dealership. I had to pay 3276.xx after everything. Acura Canada took care of 1000.00 and it looks like the dealership i brought it to covered anwhere from 750-1000 as well. The warranty they gave me on it is 1yr/20,000km. I just got my car back about a week ago actually so, I don't get why they'd tell you that you don't get a warranty on it.

Got my TL back 2 hours ago and it shifts funny like it's missing power ...so I decide to open the hood and have a look ...
ATF is leaking from the extarnal filter .... so make a U turn back to the dealer and spoke with the mecanic he said that he goona change the
o-ring of the filter and will clean it up .... I lost confident in Acura !!!

Will see if it leak again .
