Canadian TL - Replacing daytime lights

Folks:

If i'm not mistaken, i think our 2000 manual states that the daytime lights are "H3". I'd like to replace these lights with something whiter that matches the HIDs. I called a shop locally and they recommended PIAAs or Euro (cheaper), but they mentioned that these lights have a much shorter lifespan than stocks. What's the story with this?

Also, what did you get to replace the stock DRL bulbs to get whiter lights (brand + model, price)? Did you have to do anything special to use these replacement bulbs? I dont wanna have to do anything different just to get new bulbs to work or to last longer.

Ever used the "Sylvania cool blue" as sold at Canadian Tire?

I'm in the Vancouver area.

thanks in advance
