My guess is yes, but I just wanted to check before I take it out.
I'm trying to isolate a friggin dash rattle that has not been mentioned on this board. It's not the infamous ticking from the instrument wires. It's a loud pop that occurs over road grade changes - like when both wheels at one time drop over an inch or two. On the first try, dealer said they fixed the rattle(?), but they didn't fix it. I thought I'd try this one myself before taking it back to them. I think the dash bubble over the gauge cluster is cracked somehow. If that's the case, they're gonna have to replace the entire dash.
This issue has been bothering me so much (along with about 10 other things that have been fixed once so far), I'm ready to get rid of this car. It's a shame, because I really like it, but the rattles and squeaks are absolutely pathetic for a 30K automobile. And I'm sick of taking the car to the dealer for shit to be fixed.
Sorry for the rant.

you cant trive teh car with the gauges removed, if you do you will get warrning lights on the cluster after its been installed and you will have to like songoku said have them reset. you can drive with cover off, but removing them wont do you any good, you wont be able to see whats behind them.
if you have a 03 and are still under warranty, why not just bring it to the dealer and have them fix it.

The dealer just pisses me off, but it will prob wind up going there next week. I'm just trying to figure this out myself. Maybe it's time to try a new dealer??

I find it very difficult to get the dealer to fix rattles and squeaks...
