Can ATLP Exhaust Burn My Bumper?!?
so i have this clunk noise when im going at a slow speed. over bumps. or reversing out of my driveway. it sounds like its coming from the rear passenger tire. Car is currently sitting at the honda dealer for inspection of the noise and suspension. they called me back saying that its the mufflers and theyre getting too hot and it could cause ur bumper to burn and that this is where the noise stated above is coming from? could this be true? i dont recall hearing this noise before when the exhaust was installed.. what could be the real cause of this clunk noise. i told them to look again becuase i really didnt think the mufflers were an issue? any help would be appreciated thanks guys

they are full of shit. If its touching it (which even if it was it wouldnt melt the bumper) all it would do is bang it. If the exhaust is behind the bumper it will melt it.
It sounds like a hanger is loose or one of the factory hangers may be bent bringing it to close to the body

stuck at work for now. so ill pick it up tomorrow from them they said theyre was nothing they could do and recommend taking it to a muffler shop. i will be taking it to the same place that installed the atlp. ill have them look for any scrapes as to where the exhaust might be banging the bumper or car. ill also have them take a look at the hangars. i hope that will fix the noise problem its getting to be annoying

The ATLP's hang pretty far from the bumper (I believe even with the oem rear lip), if you use oem exhaust insulators. I wrapped these insulators with hose clamps so the exhausts sit higher up (there's still about 3/4" in between the tip and bumper). One problem of raising the exhausts applies if you have the WW rear lip; the tips may touch and up burning the lip. I'm saying this because if you have the ATLP's on, you won't have a problem with bumper burning unless you have the ww lip or if your exhaust tips are really close to the bumper.
If I were you, I would check all of the hangers/insulators for yourself before taking it to the shop (not saying they're shady). Definitely check the hangers/insulators on the passenger side muffler if you heard the noise from the passenger side rear.

To answer your question, yes.. ANY aftermarket exhaust can burn your bumper if it's touching it or really close to it.
For example, I have the Tsudo SP exhaust installed on my TL. With the original exhaust hangers/insulators, it sits tucked on my rear bumper (I don't have a rear lip).
My left exhaust is literally touching the back of my rear bumper. The paint melted from under there. And there is shaking and vibrations going on because of my headers. But otherwise, I just need longer exhaust hangers/insulators to keep them away from my bumper.
