Primer goes on first. Remove tire, wash, sand, rinse, dry, tape off areas you don't want paint on, prime, paint, dry

so i went to an auto shop and they told me that i should use like 3 bottles of brake cleaner and clean the hell out of the calipers before i put on the paint. Do you know if they make high heat paint that'll work on calipers and comes in a can, instead of a spray?

I've only used high temp spray paint and have never had any problems. Also, I think you would get better results from a spray can rather than brush on paint. I would use one can of break cleaner for all the calipers and then sand them down a bit. The sand paper will remove all the grit and grim that the brake cleaner doesn't get. I think those auto parts guys were just trying to get you to buy more brake cleaner than necessary.

I've painted my calipers on a previous car. I just sanded and sprayed 4-5 coats of spray paint on. I even used regular non high heat paint since they didn't have the colour that I wanted in high heat paint .

If you remove the caliper, then you will have to bleed the brakes. It might be a bit more than you bargained for. I was going to take off my calipers, but I don't think it is worth the hassle of having to bleed the brakes, so I am just going to tape off the areas I don't want painted. Since others here have done it like that and gotten good results, I would suggest that you do it that way too
