Definitely get the AEM CAI because it is worth the $$$. The hp gain is noticeable to me especially when VTEC kicks in and I love the sound it makes. My car seems to take off a lot faster then before.
BTW, get the bypass valve too for a peace of mind.

Whether you get the CAI or the short ram intake, you will get more horsepower. In fact, it is one of the cheapest mods you can do to get more HP. Definitely the best HP bang-for-the-buck mod install you can do.

I plan on getting one soon...I miss the intake sound...I had a regular intake in my Legend and I loved the sound of, especially the sound of the VTEC kicking in, sounds almost like a mini turbo without the blowoff valve.

I removed the restrictive box under the air box, there is a difference in sound, it's louder when you punch it, but not as loud as an intake. It works the same way too....The airbox is like usual, but under it, there's two big holes..the air goes straight up into the air filter, kinda like a ram air.. I feel a power difference, not 100% sure tho, it does sound sweeeeeet!

I put in an AEM CAI last week.
I don't know if there is a horsepower difference. My brother says he definitely feels it.
It sounds sweet! You don't hear a thing if you're just cruising, but once you punch the gas.......vroooom!

reset the ecu
correct me if im wrong, but i think you do have to reset the ecu cuz i installed my blue aem cai two times (because of the by pass valve) and the second time i didn't follow the direction--(removing the negative battery cable) and i got a check engine light. I then remembered and removed the negative bat cable for 1 minute and replaced it and the check eng light diesapeared. ???
by the way my compteck exhausts is quiet as hell, it only has a deep moad when I slightly step on the gas, not so if I punch it though. (i had stock intake w o resonator)
with the intake however it is pretty loud. I love when vtec kicks in sheeeet its kinda like hitting a nitrous switch, you can feel your car pull,
but as for a standing take off, I think its a bit slower at the lower RPM's. and i think it kiills a bit more gas than it saves, then again it may be my driving habits that are influenced by the intake sound.
and one more thing when you dont drive like overnight, in the morning for the first 2 minutes of driving, you can hear the engine sucking sound like you got blower in your engine its very cool

You do not HAVE to reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery. If you do, it just speeds up the process. The ECU will learn and adjust to the CAI on its own. If you want immediate noticeable results, then disconnect the negative battery lead for 15 minutes. Then reconnect and keep your radio codes handy.
This is the cheapest, cleanest, most noticeable improvement you can make to the Acura VTEC engine. JMO of course.

It doesn't know the stock airbox from no airbox. The only reason an aftermarket intake would throw any codes is if there were sensors in the stock intake plumbing (IAT - Intake Air Temperature, for example) that were left disconnected when the new intake was put on.
Resetting the ECU isn't necessary with mods.

AEM, or Injen? Who has seen and heard both? Which is louder at WOT? Has anyone seen a dyno for both of them, with stock exhaust and headers? I'm skeptical about 15 hp. MAYBE maybe 10hp, but isn't that all in the high rpm range? What do they do for torque?
