Thumbs down built in garage opener sucks!

just like to tell you guys that the built in garage oppener sucks...

i have to be DIRECTLY infront of my garage door for the singnal to get through (like 3 feet away from the door)....
if i'm on the street it or if i'm on the wrong side of the drive way it won't open....

could it be only me or have other people noticed this?

Sorry never had a problem with my garage door opener. Mine opens the door up to 75 feet away and my garage door is on the side of my house. I love the built in homelink system!

Yeah I have no problems with mine either. I use one to open the gate to my community and the other for my garage door opener and the gate I can actually open even when I am across the street making a left turn into my community.

The one in my TL works from 70+ feet, no problem. My wife has one in her Tahoe, and she needs to be 15 feet from the door. All HomeLink transmitters are not created equal. See if you can get the dealer to replace it.

Memout,

Here are a few suggestions to increase the range.

1)Replace the batteries in your garage door opener, the one that came with the garage door. Then reprogram the Homelink. People have mentioned that it increases the range.

2)Add an extra piece of wire to the antenna wire. You should see a wire hanging off the garage door opener, just strip off some of the insulation exposing the wire. Then add an extra long piece of wire to the end and wrap it around the support brackets that hold up the openener. That worked for me.

No problems here. Mine works great. Maybe it has something to do with the garage door opener itself.

Thumbs up

Mine works fine too...actually, better than the ones that came with the openers. I have a 3 car garage and have each button programmed for one of the doors.

My old garage door opener control is now history. The built in controller works great and I don't have to use any space in my glove box for it anymore.

I found that if my car is sitting still, then the range is less. But if im lightly on the throttle, I can open from further away. Maybe I'm just imagining things though.

Try holding your remote closer to the HomeLink transmitter when you train it for a stronger signal.

Memout- take the car to your dealer. There has been a very few issues of the transmitter having poor range. Replaceing the unit should fix it. We had one here and that did the trick.

I'm pretty sure the problem lies in the garage door unit itself, not the homelink system. I had similar problems with my 2k maxima, but I lengthened the antenna on the garage door unit and everything is peachy now.

Mine works fine too although I noticed I have to hold it down for a full second before it works.

Most likely a rolling code one which means it "randomly" selects a code everytime you press close/open so that others won't be able to copy that frequency from aside. This one takes more time than the fixed code ones ..
