Cool Brushed Aluminum Shift Plate

You're right on the money Pelikan. I'll talk with a fabricator here to see what he will charge to produce the brushed alum. version. I really doubt it would be more than $60 per. Also, if it works out, I'll give the info to Tim, and he can offer it on the board.

Let me know if it goes through. I would like a metal one too. My contach told me it has to vary by at least 10% or he would be sued by acura. Thats why he scraped that idea. Would this part be 3 dimensional?

Acura couldn't sue if there was no real profit made on this. Maybe Snook would like use it as a promo or give-away piece?

Wow thats cool. So if there is no profit they can't sue! He knows someone willing to do this for no gain? I find that hard to believe but If its 3d I'm in too. I'll just keep my plastic one as a spare.

Yea, glad to see you're interested. There's a real good guy and his wife down here. They have a custom fabricating business. The do really superior work and need some steady business. With their abilities and Snook's board, maybe we can all get a cool new mod item. Something that really IS unique.

Will keep you posted.

Yeah, I would like one but it will cost me to have it chromed after. Also, my contact said he wont fabricate one because it was too much money. So good luck getting it for cheap.

Thanks 3.2 We didn't think of that. We thought anyone would do it for cheap regardless.

I only presumed that a custom fabricator would want to make a profit. I'll check to make sure.

Cool

I would like to ask the board an honest question: What do you guys consider "cheap" for a 3D completly metal piece?

You all act as if you were doing the manufacturer a favor by buying from him. I have offered to prevail on personal relationships to have something made which we all seem to want. I've even offered to step out of the situ. and turn over the marketing to Tim without compesation.

Now we get responses such as" If it's cheap, I'm interested.

How about, " If it's good and reasonably priced, and I can rely on the supplier, then I want in. I can afford $ XXX for such an item.

w&j,

Sorry. I didn't mean to be condesending. I will pay what I have to to get what I want. This is exactly how others treated NightHawkBlack when he was offering to get the ones chromed. I honestly think that it will be too expensive to have made, but I would LOVE to be wrong. Get a price, and let me know. I think that $100 is too much, but $55-75 is about as high as I would pay. Again, good luck.

Oh, by the way. It was my best friend who I asked, he owns a machine shop. He laughed at me when I mailed him the piece. He said it would be very pricey to get it done (the first one, then much more reasonable for multiples), like $250-500. Agin, good luck and keep me posted.

I 'd pay anything for one just to bother everyone that thinks custom work should be as cheap as a T shirt from old navy.

I would pay around 60 to 70bucks. Above that...the shift plate would have to be SUPER BAD A$$.
