Broke the airbox, any suggestions?

I put in a K&N filter in my 02TL-S and in removing the lid, I broke one of the two clips that hold the engine half of the lid closed.

I tried JB-weld to just make it a quick fix, but I couldnt let it cure properly and last time I checked the hook was gone and no where to be found.

Has this happened to anyone? What was your resolution? How much and where can I get a new bottom half of the box (the part with the loops).

Its still pretty tight, but I dont want to take chances.

Are you refering to the Intake resonator? If so, you don't need it.

No the Airbox that holds the air filter.

Its got two loops on the engine side in which the airbox lid swivels into place. One of the loops broke and I am wondering if the bottom half of the box is tough/expensive to replace.

You are talking about the lower half of the intake box, no?

You'd prolly have to get a new box or just zip tie that thing all the way around. Better yet get a cai.

I did the exact same thing before I switched to an aftermarket intake.

I put super glue on the side of the loop that broke. It worked very well.

Oh well, I guess Ill call Acura and see what it goes for.
If it's too much (which I imagine it to be), then I will just drill a hole a sick a screw down there.
I dont know why they had to be retarded and change the airbox drastically for the type S. Why not keep the 4 screw arrangement like the Premiums. Oh well...

JB weld just went down a notch in my book :-(

Since you're going to be working in that general area.... Why not switch to an aftermarket setup?

By the way - try the super glue. I think it works better than JB Weld on that type of plastic.

If you don't want to go aftermarket - ask people on the board if they've got one they would sell you. Anyone who has an aftermarket intake could have one sitting in their garage (like I do).

I don't think JB Weld is meant for that kind of application.

Might as well get a Comptech Icebox. It's like 250 bucks.

Or, go in the For Sale/Wanted section and ask if anyone has the stock intake box after installing an aftermarket intake. You could probably get one for real cheap.

If I'm not mistaken, the part that is broken sits above the filter. This could potentially create a leak, sucking in dirty air with filtration, sending it directly into the engine.
