Talking Brand new Acura 3.2 TL owner, HP questions

Howdy! I just sold my 1968 Ford Mustang fastback and purchased a 2000 Acura 3.2 TL, and would like to know what performance mods ya'll recommend to start out with. I don't want to throw a whole bunch of stuff on it, but I would like to get an extra 15 or 20 HP. I put Flowmasters on my Stang, and really like a good exhaust sound. i know I can't put FLowmasters on the Acura, but what exhaust product sounds the best, in your opinion. Pardon the term, but I don't really like the "rice burner" sound; I've heard that cat-backs sound really nice. I'm also thinking about putting a K&N air filter on it, but i don't think that will get me many horses. Thanks!

Welcome to the board and TL ownership.

The filter, is the least expensive mod, but I'd be surprised if it yielded 5hp.

I would recommend headers or a cold air intake. The intake being much less expensive.

Get get a some additional horses: (approximate hp gains)

Comptech Headers - 30 hp
Comptech Exhaust - 3 hp a little louder than stock not a ricey sound.
Comptech IceBox - 15 hp (intake)
Comptech SuperCharger - 40 to 50

There are other products out on the market but Comptech pretty builds there products specifically for Acura since our warranty will not be voided by adding Comptech aftermarket parts.

One thing I forget to mention. Upgrade the suspension before doing serious engine mods.

Springs and Sway bars will run about 600 from Comptech and if you want better tires....

AEM Cold air intake 6
headers 16
mufflers 3
UR crank pulley 8

Now all this together won't give you 33 horses, but you get the idea. Welcome to the family!

Congrats on the purchase... I bought a 2000 TL-P earlier this year and haven't done any mods to it either... Mostly because I can't decide where to go first, and plus I might get the 2004 TL when is comes out...
