Brake Light on Cluster

hello all

recently after starting up the car in the COLD, the brake light would stay on. not the "brake lamp" but the brake light, but after driving and a couple of pumps it would come off.

today after leaving work, started and it was on, but after 2-3 min of the car warming up and pressing the pedal at times to brake, the light went away, but came back on after a few more pumps....is that the brake switch acting up?

some things i notice is that whenever the car is in a warm area or been warmed up, like my garage or after going in a store, it doesn’t come on, only after being still for a good few hours....

anyone got an idea?

sounds like a problem with ABS

have you checked your fluid level? like when it's cold or warm?

I have the same light on.

Haven't really did anything to fix it as I don't drive my car and it is snowing here.

I will check it out to see if one of the bulbs blew.

Check the float sensor in the brake reservoir. Make sure it move freely. Something tells me it maybe getting stuck in cold weather. And the pumping your brakes is freeing it.

same thing happened to me a few weeks ago when it was about 15 or 20 degrees out. i figured it had to do with the cold temp since cold messes with the steering wheel controls and radio knobs too so i didnt worry about it. the temp has been above freezing since and it hasnt happened.

IMO dont worry about it. TL electrics suck in cold weather.

i had the exact same problem when it was cold here in oregon. all i did was top off the brake fluid and it went away. give it a shot

the float for the fluid level in the master cyl cap gets grungy when you dont change the fluid often enough (every year)
That can cause it to stick or other factors cause the seal in the cylinder to fail

New cap $35,
complete master cyl with res and new cap $80-100
If when you pump the brakes, the 2nd pump is firmer- you may have master cyl failure
Or if pedal sinks while holding at a stop- master cyl failure

DO NOT drive around with a master warning light on- its there to advise you of DANGER

the LAMP light on means bulb-
the BRAKE light ON means system issue

thx for responses, pedal feel is always the same even before this issue, and i did a brake flush last summer....im gonan try cleaning the cap and check the floaty to see if its binding...thanks fellas

MurdaZ: Hey I have the same problem, we cleaned everything out and it's still the same... We figured the sensor's movement is limited when its freezing cold... This is why it's ok when the car is warmed up... One of my boys that works at Formula Honda said the exact same thing... "I wouldn't worry to much bro"...
