Brake dISC

I have a 2003 TL-S and need new discs. What brands have others had good luck with? So many out there at different price points.

I bought the magnum crossdrilled fronts with pads from Ebay. So far so good. I've read other good reviews on some mazda forums from the magnums. I had my stock rotors warping a year and a half after i had them machined. Stopping power seems a little better then before. They were easy to change and i ended up putting fresh caliper lube on the slide pins at the same time.

Its only been a week so far, and no complaints.

ROTORA or Racinbrake is all i would run on these cars. (that and maybe EBC rotors) I would get a quality pad as well like the EBC GreenStuff.

i have EBC black dash and EBC Yellow stuff pads. i now love braking just as much as accelerating. they actually prevented from rear ending some idiot who cut me off today (dumbass ny drivers). however Green stuff work just fine in normal use.

Any experience with R1 Concepts? I want to replace my dimpled and slotted EBC's that are worn out with the R1 premium line blanks. Supposed to be made out of a harder iron or something.

RacingBrake.com rotors are double heat treated before final finishing
and they work best with their own brand pads: ET300 casual use, ET500 wannabe racers
Most makers work best with own brand pads and rotors together

SS brake lines are excellent choice- whatever brand you like, they really show their worth in repeated braking in heavy use

I will put my car on RBs against anyone on ebc's and see who slows better-repeatedly and stops when needed from high speed- who can outbrake who into the corner.. on the race track of course~~

The STOPTECH/Powerslot slotted disc is actually what we have been using heavily. We used to do a lot of ROTORA discs but the STOPTECH discs actually had a better alloy compound and a better price. The front disc for the 99-03 TL actually is a curved vane disc from STOPTECH with a Power Alloy Compound and a black coating on the hubs and vanes. Combine it with some STOPTECH Performance pads and you will have a great setup.

topbrakes.com has good competitive pricing, free shipping with $100. As matter of fact, I'm looking for replacing my complete set of rotors & pad for front & rear. I'm finalize to with ATE PremiumOne rotors and Hawk HPS pads. I used as daily sprint, not autoX. If you do AutoX, I used Ferodo DS2500 or Carbotech XP10, you won't be disappointed.

Another vote for EBC rotors. I'm running their dimpled/slotted rotors with EBC redstuff pads and SS brake lines. Best braking I've ever had in Oregon - and they work great in rainy weather!

well of course you would win. RBs are one of the best and their cost reflects that. EBC, imo, has the best performance considering its relatively lower cost.

though i think my Black dash and Yellow stuff will do well against RBs. im very curious to see that outcome.

stoptech is well known for good quality at great price

double heat tempering is not hype-want to guess how many different products like knifes or razors that use the same process or principle--they go in the fire several times

why you have to drive a certain way with new brakes??-- heat cycling the parts--to tempur or harden the rotors,, then transfer pad material to the rotor--
or dont you believe in improved friction ?

Doing the process twice at the factory allows for immediate hard use upon install while others say drive/brake easy for 500

mrheeltoe and Excelerate are the 2 brake suppliers- ck their threads or call for personal suggestions on parts that fit your driving style

Not everyone needs the killer 80 to 10 mph brakes
but some us do have ~inattentive spouses~ who make great use of that braking abilty~

is there really anyone who doesnt think their choice is the top choice?
and have a dozen reason why~

Hook up with one of our vendors and get good quality at the right ~ziner price~

everything else is opinion- including mine
I did a direct comparison of hps v et300 pads on RB rotors,,
the RB pads felt much more predictable and sure footed under heavy braking
stopped the car shorter by several feet or more
HPS stopped the car fine, make some dust in the process,,
but my opinion is rb pads on their rotors are a better choice-
now to get some et500s and see how well they do!!

i went with EBC for a few reasons.

1. they are priced right
2. i wanted a low dust high performance pad (red stuff)
3. i didn't want a rotor that was drill completely through, to avoid cracking (3DG)
4. they have a good reputation
5. i didnt care if they made a "whoosing" noise or squeak

great brakes, as well as ROTORA, Racinbrake, STOPTECH/Powerslot, and hawk pads.

i went with EBC from www.placeforbrakes.com. they offered a 12% off EBC coupon code and free shipping AND NO SALES TAX (except FL) which is amazing with NY's 8.625% sales tax.

on top of that amazing deal, i had ordered Red stuff pads but they had a problem with a batch and couldnt ship it out for 2 weeks. So i emailed em and told em i needed pads ASAP and to upgrade me to Yellow stuff for no extra change. to my surprise they actually did it and i recieved my Yellow stuff a few days later.

i dont think any of our vendors can beat that...unless someone else has a better story to tell.

AJ USA had a deal quite close (at the time) on EBC. AZ discount, free shipping, no tax (exc. CA).
