Bought Sylvania Silverstar 9005ST, not yet installed

hey guys,

firstly, I'm wondering if anyone has purchased and installed these on their TL-S...if so, can you provide me with some feedback as too how well it matches the stock headlight, and if they have lasted you a long time so far.

Also, I picked up the 9005ST, which are apparently safe to use on 02-03 TL-S, however the packaging says 12 Volts and 65 Watts of power. Isn't the stock fog light only 51 Watts? I was speaking to acura parts, and they mentioned that the only way to void your warranty by installing aftermarket fog bulbs, is if it were too overheat and melt the fog housing and/or plastic around it. Does anyone know if 65 Watts is too much power for our cars to handle?

Thanks

I put on those Silverstar at first knowing that I always use PIAA and I was very disappointed, they looked yellow to me so I did what I was going to do in the first place, returned the Silverstars and got me the PIAA Xtreme Super Whites and this are the results:
Need I say more.

are they really that yellow? I mean right now the stock ones are like having a regular halogen on the car, I'm not looking for absolutely a 100% match, but something close to white. Are they even close to white in colour, or is it a bit of an upgrade to our stock bulbs?

I thought it was 9006s for the fogs. From what I've read here a lot of people use the silverstars and from the pics they match up pretty well. Also someone was using 85 watt bulbs from Korea (if I recall correctly) with no probs of it melting the housing. Just make sure you don't touch the bulbs with your finger tips. The oils from you fingers get on there, boil and cause the bulbs to fail.

SK2003TypeS: That's why I tried the Sylvanias first, because everybody here said that they looked great and all but this is not true, I pay more for the PIAAs but hey, the picture tells the story.
Also I took this picture during the day so you can see that is not the darkness of night that is making them look white.

maxx96,
Your lights look great in that pic, so probably looks better at night.
I guess you get what you pay for. I was going to pick up the silverstars or eaglelights but I guess it's not worth the $15. Guess I'll have to break down and spend more money for the PIAAs. Thanx.

9006 are for the fog lights (100% sure)
51W=115W (for the PIAA)
4000K
PIAA Xtreme Super White

9005 are for the High Beam (100% sure)
60W=120W (for the PIAA)
4000K
PIAA Xtreme White Plus
Go replace those bulbs for the correct ones. If you want to use those POS.

I'm sure it's gonna be fine. If it's not 100% identical to my stock headlights, I'll live with it. I lived with our garbage stock yellow coloured fog lights for 6 months, I'm sure I'll live with a slight imperfection in colour, that will be unnoticeable by others. Some things in life are just not worth wasting time over...this is one of those things!!! I'm just looking for the quickest and most efficient way to make my car look better.

Hey man don't get upset, you ask the question and now don't like the answer. You got technical on your questions so I gave you as much feedback as I could, with that said, you can go elsewhere from now on to find good free advise. END OF STORY.

Sorry Dude!!!

didn't mean to come down on you so hard. I just got a call from one of my partners in my group saying he couldn't finish up the work for a presentation we have tomorrow, and now I have to finish all the god damn work. I was hoping to crash early tonight, but I guess that's out of the question.

Didn't mean to lay into like that....

best regards,

Jeff.

I just installed the Sylvania SS 9005ST in the DTR and high beams. At first they seemed yellow to me when compared to the 9006ST fogs. After a few minutes of pondering this, I deducted that the DTR are running at a lower voltage, hence the yellow colour and they wont get white until the high beams are on.
