BMW 325i ?
What can you tell me about the BMW 325i? I just finished racing one....looked like it might be an older model. It was small and boxy. At first glance of the car, I couldn't believe he was attempting to race me. Even though I won both times, I was surprised by the BMW's performance

bimmer always has good engines imho. their new 330ci and 330i can be close competition to us (tls), but i think all the other models aren't as fast as us. not that they are slow though, they are still good performers but just not as fast as us except the new 330

be careful for these 99+ 323i/325i manual. they have good power on high end, 330i is even stronger. My friend's 99 323i can keep up with a Porshe Boxter (of course he lost, but only like a car length all the way to 120) very surprising.

Baww Hahaha, I'm sure some of you wish!!! The 330i is not even close to some of the fastest BMWs and runs neck in neck with the TL-s.
Lets see, what about the M3, M5, or M roadster? OK, M cars don't count because they are factory tuned? plain ol 540i is also faster, not to mention Z8 will just blast your pants off no matter what mods you have on the TL on this side of the NASA space program.
Not fair you say, they are V8, I mean all none V8 and none M bimmers. Ok then....
How about just the regualr z3 coupe, 3.0L (0-60 in 5.9) or the 330xi if you dump the clutch will murder you from the line.
ok, ok...I'm sure you get the point now and I should stop. Don't go around thinking, uhh, ....thats not a 330, so eask kill,

I know BMW's are good performers, I was just surprised with this boxy little cars performance. I did a search on auto trader until I could find a picture of it. It was a '93 325i that I raced. I was just surprised that he wasn't too far behind when we hit 125mph. I wish we could of went a little faster so I could of seen how well he could of kept up with me at a higher speed. But the traffic was too thick to go much faster

?!?!?! i was talking about all the bimmer 3 series, that's what his question was about. i didn't mean any of the 5 or 7 series or any of the m powered vehicle. sorry for my super bad english, but i don't really appreciate your kind of comments @_@
i respect the 540i tremendously and not to mention the m3 and m5 are my dream car. all i was trying to say is besides 330i the other 3 series aren't as fast as us.

I have an '87 325is, the first year of that model. Car and Driver said it did 0-60 at 7.1. I have a custom chip, and believe me, that car can pull! I think with it's torque and the 5 speed, even now, with 267,000 miles on it, I could give my TLS a good race.

Larry...I have the TL-P. After what I witnessed the other day (which I could tell his exhaust was modified), a few more mods and that machine could give the TL-S a good run for the money.

That car (87 325is) is a sleeper. All my friends who are not car people thought I was just a yuppy, going for the BMW mistique (it still existed in 1987). What they didn't know was that I had researched that car from the time it was first rumored, and as soon as it showed at the dealer I drove it, and, man, I was hooked. So I leased it. When the lease was up, I had way too many miles on it, and, since I still loved it, I just paid it off. With a quarter million miles, all mine, I've gotten so much value out of that car!
For a long time, whenever I got into that car I got an unbelievable rush because it had the fun built in, it had the best sound, the smell of tight-fitting leather buckets, and the seat-of-the pants feeling that we all love, and it also felt pretty good to have a BMW. The only time I raced it (against another car) was coming home from LA, over the grape vine. Some guy in a new Ford started to pass me in the slow lane, at about 85. I dropped it into 4rth gear and stayed with him till about 100, then I romped it and pulled to about 120, and he was history. That car would go from 80 to 100 in a heartbeat. It came stock from the factory with Pirelli P-6 tires, BBS wheels, Bilstein Struts, 5-speed manual with heavy duty clutch (that never chattered), RWD/LSD, yada, yada, yada. If our TLS had the paint and the suspension that BMW put on that car (and rear-wheel drive), I would consider it close to perfect.
Oh well, I know that the TLS's purpose in life is a little bit different, and for what it's intended to do, I really like it a lot. Just have to be truthfull here, and say that it doesn't get into my gut like the Bimmer used to.

I hear ya there. And the TLS does serve it's purpose in life. If I wanted a "fly by the seat of my pants" car, I definitely would of went with something else. But first and foremost, the TL is a family car (which the wife likes to constantly remind me of). And it's got that spunk when I get that "need for speed" feeling.
