blacklisted by dealer?

Hey all,
I was wondering if you could get "blacklisted" by the dealer. The reason I ask this is the last couple of times I've requested a loaner car (when I make my appointment -- so this is done in advance), I've been given a rental car. Not an Acura of any sorts, but a rental.

This started 2 visits ago. All the service advisors were busy so the service manager helped me out. I dunno, he must have looked at me and thought I was a young kid or something. (I look really young for my age -- I could pass for an 18 year old ) Anyhow, he thought I was there dicking the dealership around and wasting time. I dunno about you guys, but I hate going there. I don't want to have my car warrantied unless I have to. It's a royal PIA. The dealership is 20miles from my house, in the OPPOSITE direction of my normal commute. So all in all a big PIA.

Anyhow, what pissed me off more was that I had brought the car in for a couple of rattles before. The tech who worked on it could not duplicate it. The worse part is that the rattles were "common" known TL problems. The sunroof, the seatbelt squeak etc. What a waste of my time to pick up the car and not have the problem fixed.

I brought the car in for the same problem and I guess the service manager thought I was screwing around. He made a tech go out with me this time on a test drive. And this tech knew what I was talking about as soon as I got into the car with him. MOTHERFUGGER! How come the other idiot or the service-advisor didn't know the last time!?

It just seems that if the advisor/tech went for a quick test drive with you, the problems would be solved the FIRST time around. The techs are paid per job, and they have no incentive to take your car out for a testdrive when trying to figure out a problem. If they dont' hear it, it's not there. "could not duplicate" which is utter BS. Waste of time for everyone.

Anyhow, since that time, I haven't gotten any Acura loaner cars. I brought my car in again this week to get some warranty work done. Apparently they are replacing my Nav screen. So we'll see how it goes. On the upside, my wife is pimpin around in a Saturn Ion right now!

Thanks for hearing my rant.

PS: the dealer is p-town in the bay area
PSS: I just purchased the extended warranty for the car, but I think I'm going to cancel it; I don't want to deal with the dealer for claims if this is the case; I'll take that money I was going to purchase the warranty with and chance it with repairs.

Hey yoda sorry to hear about your experience at that dealership. If i were you i would call american honda and give them some shit. I shouldn't matter how old you are or what kind of car you drive. The factor of the matter is they have a job to do and if they are not doing it then somebody in higher places should know about it.

I have gotten both types from this dealer. The rental they give are POS Corollas that are not a comparable to a TL or even a TSX. When I have gotten an Acura loaner it ususally is pretty dirty inside and out. It would be nice if at least they give them a wash between customers.

There are also a couple of pretty good independent Honda/Acura shops in the Tri Valley, that I have taken my other cars to for service.

Thanks for the ideas guys and gals. I have heard bad things about Stevens Creek Acura so I "passed" on them. I heard good things about p-town acura so I went with them. My first couple of visits were very good. After that, not good.

My car is going to be coming out from warranty. I will just take it to an independent now. I'll get better service and be better respected.

I had to argue that time with the manager over:
-the TSB for the vibrating brakes; he had the nerve to tell me that when the tires were rotated that the lugs were overtorqued!! I told him, nope -- all done with a snap-on torque wrench. I can't believe he said that to me. I'd bet him even money that NOT 100% of his techs use torque wrenches
-I said the car was idling rough on cold starts, almost a mis-fire. He accused me of using crappy fuel; I told him it's been doing it with shell, chevron, velero. He told me to use Cheveron only; I dunno about him, but all the fuel comes from a couple of refinieries only in the bay area, the only diff is the additives they put in!
-ugh the list goes on and on....
