TL's arent nice?

standard leather, wheels that arent hubcaps. 200+ hp v6, navigation option 10 years ago...

granted the 2nd gens are older model cars.. but not nice? come on man...

the E92 roof isn't fully black, it's CF, and it doesn't have a sunroof, same with m6's with cf roofs. but that GG50 concept is shexy.

TL's can be nice, but when people put a vinyl sticker on the roof to have the "black roof effect"...it just makes your car look cheap/ghetto. There is the right way to do thing's, and the "Pepboys ricer" way to do things.

if you actually read my OP you'd see that the entire reason for the vinyl in the first place was because the roof was "ghetto" it had missing paint everywhere.

the black color was only chosen b/c they had no way of Matching FirePepperRed on a vinyl. black is the only practical color after that, as there is black trim all over the car. and i dont have hook ups for paint. so they charged 800+ for the roof alone, which i cant justify at all.

its understandable that you may get the idea that im some kind of ricer, mostly bc of the fact you dont know jack about me or my car apparently

theres no "look alike" or "effect" here... it was just to cover sun spots.

and as far as rice... i have stock wheels, oem lip kit, and have not touched my interior.

any other reason you feel this is such a crappy idea?

btw people.. dont get the idea you can run off to pep boys and vinyl your roof. get quality material from a shop.. most "sign shops" will do this type of work you just have to call and ask..

and let them install.. if youre short on cash... ask them to guide you or give you advice if you absolutely have to DIY

if done right, nobody will know the difference "unless they really want to"...

thanks for the feedback... this will do great until i find a shop to paint my FPR roof for a decent price.

i get the idea your a ricer due to your other thread's around these forum's, but i have not said anything about it. honestly, i could care less about your car, or what you do to it.

im just saying that covering up crappy paint with vinyl, and calling it nice is retarded.

you cant call a car nice if you use vinyl stickers to cover up flaws in the paint, that is rice.

and the only time the vinyl was called "nice" was by other people. my thread was to ask about how people felt. not to say i thought it was great. so please dont put words in my mouth.

they had multiple people express how they didnt like it. doesnt seem to bother me one bit.

like i said, difference between an opinion and a purposely going around trying to piss people off. which is clearly all you try to accomplish on here.

everyones opinion is welcome. theres just no call for your comments sometimes. you help out also, dont get me wrong. but its like you got it out for anyone that doesnt have your taste or views.

what? I didnt say our cars arent nice, if they arent, why would I own one? I was just linking pics of nice cars that have black roofs. Man you guys think too much into it. I thought about it on my car after I saw a e55? with it But my roof is in good condition and I need my front bumper sprayed before my roof. So I'm not saying our cars arent nice people, chill.

Im thinking of going to a shop like that and doing my hood, roof and trunk in CF. If I get tired of it I can just take it off.

If done right it looks just like paint.

the bimmer's vinyl looks PERFECT though. if i knew the shop could do it that good, id go with white pearl w/ blue

Because painting might be more expensive...can you wrap in vinyl and then clear coat over?

Would there be any issues that would result from that, like the vinyl fading under the clear or some kind of other damage from the sun?

they can actually lay a clear vinyl over it also... but the gloss vinyl will hold up well and look right... dont pressure wash and scrub easy when you wash and it should last you a couple years no problem. by then the vinyl has done its job and paid for itself

if its a true auto vinyl, it will withstand the wear of time. dont have to baby them too much...
