If you were already in there, couldn't pulleys be a better bang for your buck? I know my friend (who I bought the car from) had them thrown on there during a water pump and timing belt replacement. I recall him saying that they were a relatively cheap addition. I just figure since everybody needs to do these repairs at some point anyways...

5-8hp tops. Headers give you the most hp for the money 25-30hp. That power you'll def feel. A cai will help that extra exhaust flow 10-15hp. For 5-600 bux you can have 35-45hp gain from these 2 parts. Make sure you've switched your fluid in your tranny to something like redline racing atf so it can handle all that power while also dispersing the heat.

Do headers and a CAI really cost $5-6000?? I'm not bashing, I just really want to know...

Because, can't you get a supercharger on your TL for that kind of money??

I suspect headers are cheaper than $6000, but I still presume they are well above the $100 or whatever that the pulleys cost. I'm just saying when talking bang for buck it's a division problem. 8HP for 100 bucks is better than 30HP for $1000. That was really the premise of my comment/question.

Edit: But now I notice ParaSurfer says you can get CAI and headers for 5-600. Since CAI is 2-300, can you really get headers that cheap?

i didnt say 6,000. i said 500-600bucks...lol. Save money and get a used AEM V2 intake which is the best intake offered for 2nd gen TL. obx header or ebay j30-32 headers will be the cheapest.

NP... heres some headers for your car.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CL-TL...Q5fAccessories
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MEGAN...Q5fAccessories
The pic on the megan racing headers shows a 4cyl set but model number is def for the v6 accord/tl/cl.

hope this helps. The other set is no name but the seller has 93% rating selling these. Whether you apend 99 bux or 1000.00 you're still gonna see the same 30hp/20tq gain.

I guess I was concerned that it would require welding, which most of my friends aren't skilled at. Does the header bolt to the exhaust?

(I'm not actually imminently doing this upgrade, but I'm interested because I've been figuring I'd do it the next time I need major exhaust work.)

^take existing header bolts off
put new headers on
put bolts back on.

If you live in a shitty area, your cat bolts will probably be rusted and you'll need fire to get the bolts off.

Haha lol yeah my friend luckily has a lift but....i live in VA and nearly 10years of snow and ice and my Dad thinking this car could handle this has pretty much seized and rusted my headers I'm buying XS power ones this week and getting a mid-muffler delete at the same time, and apparently after you throw down the 125 for headers the place im going to only makes you pay 100 for everything else, I'll probably wait on the CAI i've had the Intake res delete and i bought a K&N filter, im trying to get thermobloc spacers a strut bar and a drop before i move to CAI's..Thanks for you input though guys, I actually laughed out loud at the crackhead comment. Tnx.

Btw beer is probably the most expensive tool out of all of those....But it also caused me to tint my taillights while wasted that's why I bought new ones today...great....

CAI doesn't give you more horses maybe 1% at most and that's only at higher rpms...it mostly just improves throttle response...CAI also cause higher silicone content inside engine...more dirt. this is proven using used oil analyisis
