Battery: One moment good the next bad.
This Sunday my wife and I head over to the gym. After the work out we drive back home. I put the car in the driveway, run inside to get my tool box to help a friend get his motorcycle started and turn the key. Clack clack clack goes the starter. Hmm car only sat maybe 3 minutes. I have lights and interior power. I think it may be the Acura rebuilt starter I installed last year as everything else works. Then I lose the interior power -but wait it's back -nope gone again.
I put a voltmeter on the battery: 10.3v. Not good. So out comes the battery and off to Autozone for a load test. It's dead. I get a replacement Autozone for $100 to replace the Acura 100 month battery that was only 3 years old -no, I do not expect a battery to go 8+years- but heck the first one went 7! Downside is the battery is slightly taller at the fill covers so the battery cover does not fit so well. Oh well. I guess my car got upset when we went to look at the 2012 TL on Saturday...

Always Working In
Lol
I had the same problem as you op. After coming home from out of town. Two hour trip. Just like you I was in and out and no no no. Battery died. I picked up an alt + batt. Same problem.
I then tested everything. Ended up being a problem in the underhood fuse box. I cleaned everything including every ground I could find. Havent had the problem since.

Luckily the alternator (also a recent Acura rebuilt replacement) is ok. Just a freak internal short in the battery. I have only seen this once before on a motorcycle battery about 20 years ago.

battery construction quality has gone downhill in recent years
now you are lucky to get 3 to 4 years lifespan
and `sealed batteries` with high engine compartment temp- high ambient temps-
the internal fluid cooks out and you can get a short between the cells
If you can ck the flud levels, top them off as needed
learned this the hard way on the motorcycle battery

there was a run of bad batteries last year or 4 iirc,,
(my guess) many suppliers must buy from the same plate maker or something like that
new batts lasting days or weeks,,, if at all
since a happy customer tells 2 friends:
Batteries Plus took really good care of me recently on the TL and a motorcycle battery
What makes them special is- they only deal with batteries
so stock is constant move in and out- replacements come in every day or 2
Then every car battery they get in stock immediatly goes on a jumbo sized (48 at once) Battery Tender machine- to bring them up slowly to full, ready to use as soon as they are installed
most new batteries at a parts store have sat on a shelf for weeks or months and lost charge, they didnt leave the factory full to start with.
now you have to drive 30-45 minutes with little load on system to allow the alternator to charge the battery up to full.
It was a nice touch, along with a really good job cleaning the cable ends and retest the system
normal batt price was ~80$, but they had a `just damaged' during the stacking of new batts... broken end tab that had nothing to do with its operation or TL mounting-
40 bucks! with a 60 day warranty. I figured if it last 60 days it will last 3 -4 years like it should
If your on a budget dont be afraid to ask the shop for a `blem`
