Auto Protection Film?
Anyone heard of or used this stuff? I stumbled upon a site and read about this product from 3M. Here is the link for those of you who would like to research this. I'm definitely at least looking into it.

It really depends on the color of your car, medium and light colors it is hard to see. On darker colors you can see the line where it stops a lot more than lighter colors. I didn't do the hood, could deal with the line across the hood, did the headlights, bumper kit, and the body kit (front, sides and behind rear wheels).
The dealer was charging ~ $500 for the hood, headlights and I believe bumper.
I went to the shop direct and am going to getting all of that minus the hood plus the side pieces of the body kit (wrapped all the way into the door frame to protect against feet scraping when getting in and out), body kit behind rear wheels, and all of the pieces of the body kit that are inside the wheel well for ~$400.
I'll post pics later today or tomorrow... the pics I took this morning didn't have quite enough light..maybe I'll post them anyway and add a few more later.

Thanks Bricot!
Being that I have black, I was wondering about a line across my hood. Also wondering, since it's a film......if rock chips eventually tear up the film how will it look then? Also, if and when the film would have to be replaced, would it damage the paint in any way? Headlights, wheel well and ground kit for the film sound like very good ideas.
Look forward to those pics of your TL!

I IS THICK
Everybody refers to it as "film", but it is alot thicker than you would think. The headlight treatment is extremely thick (probably 5X thicker than the paint treatment). I had a kit on my old Accord for 5 years and it worked great. It never came close to tearing and looked new the entire time. It is a legit product. I am getting the whole kit installed on my new TL-S next Saturday (Silver paint).

Go to XPEL's sight and use their authorized dealer locator and see if you have anyone close. You can look under auto-detailing and see if anyone has it in their ad's.
As far as wear, I believe it is 6mm thick and is made up of 4 different layers, starting from the outside is a protective clear coat, under that a thermoplastic urethane, under that an acrylic adheasive, under that a release liner. They offer a $1000 paint protection guarantee/headlight protection guarantee. I asked specifically about removeall and they state it can be removed and will not affect the paint. So if it gets beat up over time, you can have it removed, I think they do it with a heat gun, and have a new one put on.
I just posted some pictures Under the type s forum, let me know what you think.
