Auto. off/on headlight

Hey, I was flipping through our manual today and saw that the sensor on our front dash is a Sunlight sensor? I know this is one of the two sensors used to determine the temp. shown on our gauges but was wondering if it would be possible for us to use this sensor to have the Auto. off/on headlight feature on the BMW/Benz cars? Or would it cost too much to do this mod?

I think that is just a light sensor to see how much sun light there is .... I don't think its an actual switch. I may be wrong though. If you are looking for some fun, then you can probably make it work using a photo switch and a bosch relay. Let me know if ur interested and I'll provide a suggestion for wiring it.
