Auto Dimmer for Rear Viiew Problem

The auto dimmer for the rear view mirror on my 2000 is not dimming the Entire mirror. The edges are staying clear and it really looks stupid when half the mirror is tinted and the rest is regular.

Has anybody else had this problem? Just wondering.

Have it replaced by the dealer, common problem....

No, the rear view mirror is not covered. Mine ruptured after I left it parked at the airport for three days... it looks really stupid with a big bubble in it. And, it doesn't dim anymore. I've just left it though, its not worth $100+ to fix.

It's covered under warranty. Mine had the same problem, was the driver-side corner that wouldn't tint. Just took it in and they gave me a new one under warranty (53k miles) and it is mounted very tightly and tints darker than ever.

I had the EXACT same problem last month Samir! Took it to PAA and they replaced it under warranty. I have rougly 30k miles on the car. It works great now!!! I hope I didn't just jinx it. From your experiences, once these messages are fixed, do they stay fixed? I love how it is right now.

Noam

I had same problem about a couple of weeks ago. Take your car to the dealer. It'll covered under the warranty.

Just get yourself one of those wide angle mirrors.

Thanks Guys.....Oh yeah....I got a new job so now I am looking to get a new car. I'm thinking g35, BUT I want it with every option available which takes the price to around $39k.

ALSO, I keep thinking about what the new TL will look like and all the power it'll have. So I think I''lll wait it out. Hope my tranny doesn't go and I hope they don't have anymore chronic problems as this one did.

Read the OP's post more carefully. He asked if it is covered by the EXTENDED warranty. The rear view mirror is NOT.

Actually, after thinking about it, I think the term "Extended Warranty" is ambiguous. Extended warranty could mean to 50,000 or 100,000 (Acura care). I know my rear view is not covered by Acura care.
