ATTN: Nate or anyone who knows about LEDs

Hey whats up. I got the 5mm LEDtronics blue LEDs. They are 3.5 volt. I tried getting the 1/4 watt 680 ohm resistor but they only had 1/2 watt 680 ohm. All the bulbs I’m replacing are 12 volt. Will the LEDs blow out? Thanks.

Use 1/2 watt 470 ohms resistor if you are connecting 1 LED.

Any 680 ohm resistor that is 1/4 watt or more will be fine. The higher the wattage rating on resistors the more heat they can handle. Your LEDs will be fine.

Oh, one more question. What kind of resistor would I use for a 1.7 volt LED? Thanks again.

as many of you know led life span is almost infinity, i tend to like to over power it by using lower ohm resistors, i have done many times 100-300 ohms on a 3.5 volt blue led and the brightness is awesome , i guess you just have to trial and error....also depends on the leds imo 680 is the standard ever led white and blue should use but it makes it way to dim and a 1/2 watt is a HUGE resistor in comparison to the 1/4 which is more than good enough.....

here is some of my work

cars done to date, bmw 3 series, vw jetta, mb clk's, honda accord, preludes, integras.....

Wow. How do you change the bulb in the clock? My 96 TL has the same clock as the pic below. I opened it up and I dont even see a bulb in there!
