Question Atth H&R Sport spring owners (TLS/CLS)

Would I need a camber kit for a 2001 CLS with the H&R Sport springs? I love the way the H&R kit looks like compared to the Comptechs, but I don't know if I should buy the camber kit as well. I see numerous people with the H&R Sport springs in their signature, but nothing mentioned about a camber kit installed. I'm ready to purchase the springs, but need to know first if the kit is needed or overated. Thanks.

Also i think H&r doesnt put you too low where you need a camber kit.

Thumbs up Hn R Sport Springs

Just put mine on my Types S and it looks killer! Lost very little ride and only picked up a bit of road noise. Had a 4 wheel alignment and came out perfect! The Sports got me about 1.75" front and 1.50 rear. There is a slight bit of rake , but i like the look. Good luck PS Get the Sports and not the OE Sports !

I haven't got my springs yet...but I just buy them from TLluver. I can't wait to put the springs on. No you don't need a camber kit....unless you want to waste money and buy them...besides that.....no!

The shop where i had my wheels installed told me to use H&R springs . The Acura dealer told me i should use Sport comptech springs. The reason is that acura backs up Comptech products and should anything go wrong with the car.... they will replace it and plus it covers under warranty... I'm not so sure what to do now. What do you guys think?

I dunno, but my opinion differs from most. I just took apart all 4 of my wheels today (They came off a lowered CLS) and let me tell you there is definite signs of uneven wear on 2 sets of tires. The guy must of never rotated or something, because 2 of them are worn down to the point were the rubber is smooth, but the other 2 looks almost brand new. The reason why I know it was lowered is because the wear and tear was on the inside track (something that you would not be able to see unless you unmount it off the car). My guess is that anything more than 2 inches would start affecting the overall distribution of traction on the tire. Remember, this is from MY personal experience only, and it may seem fine in the short run, but I can attest to what happens to a tire that looks like it went through ALOT of burnouts. All I know is that I for one would not touch the comptech springs.

Which dealership is that? The dealer I use claims they are the #1 sales leader in the US (they showed me the numbers when I was buying) and they DO push Comptech and warranty the work.

Hn Rs vs Comptechs

The only thing I've noticed about my Hn Rs is that I do have a slight bit of rake to the look. Meaning the rear seems to be a bit higher than the front by maybe 1/2 inch. I like the look compared to the even look and will need some room for it to drop when I put people in the rear seat. Also the ride is awsome!

I called the acura dealership again this morning. They only sell comptech products and no Hn Rs.

Question

So what Happens then if you install H & R Sports on your car? I just installed these springs yesterday! My car only has 400 miles...Does this mean I lose warranty? If I do lose warranty is it on the whole car or just certain things?

P.S. H & R make your car look tight!!!!!

Warranty on After market Products

I work at a Jeep dealer and we install 4" lift kits on Wranglers. Does the factory warranty them? Hell No! When a customer has a problem from a lift kit that we sold them do you think we tell the manfactuer? Hell No! We just fix it and bill the manufactuer. You want to know why? It's because we want to get paid for warranty work. Do you think anyone would put on these shocks if they thought for sure there warranty would be void? Ask the dealership to put in writing that Acura covers a lowered car on any spring! They won't do it! I sell new cars , and the $$$ are made on aftermarket products and not the sale of the auto. The Auto is just the means to the end! Example. I got an estimate on springs from an Acura dealership for $800! I had the same spring put on for $289! Installed! They quoted me $2100 for the underbody kit. I can get that for $889 on this site and $200 for install! Hey just enjoy them and don't worry about it. Whats the worst thing that could happen anyway? You lose your warranty. It's just money! Something you 'll only need case you don't die tomorrow! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

So your saying that if I do run into problems take it to the dealer and no matter what they will charge it as it is under warranty?

Question Warranty

Does any one out there know what could possibly be the worst thing that could happen by putting in non stock springs? I'm only concerned with abnormal tire wear. Maybe there are other concerns that we should all be aware of. Please enlighten us! Personally I'd rather have the look than the Warranty! The look is every day, and the Warranty is only when you need it! LOL!!!!!!!!

hey edga, why would you say you wouldnt touch comptech springs man...if i wanted to i could buy them, but i dont see the need to spend the extra money...the long term affects of springs could be many things...is it gonna cancel your waranty hell no...if your shocks go out thats because you lowered it and that wouldnt be acura's fault...tires could be another concern...camber would be another...but honestly, i think its worth it for the look...Shyne

Well I talked to the place that sold me the H & R's and they said that I dont need a camber kit but when I look at the car from the back I can see the tires have a slight tilt so I am going today to another shop to see what they say and I will let you all know what they say

I'm not bagging on Comptech, but about the drop. If you ever read any of my replies about where I take my car, then you would understand. I find the phrase "Form following function" very appropriate for this topic. Dropping a car is not for everyone like most people would claim it to be. Only the folks you have coilovers and raise their car would be able to follow me around without regretting it. Remember, I have the kit, and I want to preserve it.
