Thats a good question never seen many post about that.
I have seen alot for coins falling down behind it.
If you did not buy the smokers package ashtray & lighter its only a coin tray.

I've got about $5 worth of change that's fallen behind there. It's also easy to get coins wedged so that the tray will not open.

because coins kept falling behind the "ash tray" I now use the top compartment to hold all my change.

Makes a nice little compartment for a cleaning cloth to use on the Navi.. I also keep a cut down version of an anti-static brush to use on the screen also.

Just pop it out

I too had a ton of coins fall into this holder, so much that I could no longer close the little door and at night the courtesy light would annoyingly shine through the partially closed door.

So I went ahead and took out all the coins and pulled on holder at very end of it. It's held in place by two thin strips of 2 sided sticky tape.

But to get the coins that fell into the center console you're gonna have to put the tranny shifter into 1 or 2 manual gear to give you some room and then grab that squarish piece of plastic that's in between the seat heater buttons. Make sure you grab it from the very end of it, don't worry it'll snap right off.

Now grab some pliers and did in to your buried treasure!
Just replace the cover when you're done

It's one of those stupid flaws in our car that Acura has not changed. Kind of like the soft plastic on the b pillars that gets so banged up from the seatbelt hitting it. Oh well.

That is SO annoying...the drivers side pillar looks like it has been vandalized in my car!

Yeah, the plastic spacer at the console between the heater buttons just snaps out. This is actually the access to the diagnostic link which you will plainly see. Be careful with pliers and such sincre there are somne conectors for the SRS there - I am amazed a quarter has not triggered off one of these. It is a terrible design, and I guess it will take a crask or an airbag unintentinal depoyment to get it fixed.

I smell recall!
