are they really as close to HID for a halogen? according to the web site, they almost as white as the stock HID bulbs of the TL.

I got a pair of 9005s and 9006s on Sunday. I installed the 9006s in the fogs and they look pretty darn good. Definite improvement over stock. Got them at Autozone for $24.99 as did agean. (Had to do this after rewiring the fogs to come on with the parking lights...)
I'm still trying to decide if I want to install the 9005s for the high beams or return them for $50. I'm just not sure it's worth it for the occasional use that the high beams get.

Got em when I got my car back in January - didn't like them at all!
They are whiter and brighter than stock, no question, but IMHO, it wasn't different enough to justify the cost. Autozone does not accept return on electronic items so I sent them back to Sylvania instead and they sent me a refund check plus the shipping charges. Try it out and see for yourself. Buy just one and compare. If you like it, buy the other, otherwise send the one you bought back to Sylvania for a refund. Hope it helps.

I guess you just have to spend a little more and upgrade to 6000K HID fogs then.

My 9005s are still in the unopened package. I understand if the package(s) have been opened, but I expect Autozone (and anyone else for that matter) to accept returns on unopened items.
If not, it will be the last thing I ever buy from Autozone.

in all honesty, i think $25 each is actually cheap, when compared to the price of PIAA, which IMHO, suck since they burn out fast. also, IMHO, i think sylvania is much better in terms of quality for bulbs than PIAA so as i said before, i think $25 each is not at all bad, considering those bulbs are rated at 4000K, which is extremely close to the stock HID rating of 4300K
