Anyone tried D2S instead of D2R
I was told from SUVlights.com that I should go w/ D2S bulbs for my 03 TLS because they will end up giving off more color and more vision. Was told that you need to do a lil mod to the bulb to get it to fit. Anyone have any experiance on this or any knowledge please post.

i just bought a pair of ultinon D2S bulbs today from suv lights under the same advisory
they will arrive later in the week, i guess
as far as i know, all you need to do to the d2s bulb to make it fit to the oem d2r slot is to file a small notch in teh base of teh d2s bulb... a nail file should do teh trick
can someone please confirm

I haven't gotten a chance to compare them.

YES..they ARE brighter..and that's is the FACT.
D2R gives off 2800 lumens while D2S gives off 3200 lumens. The fact that D2S gives off more lights is because they don't have a shield like D2R....pull out your 6000K philip Ultinon you just bought from that Taiwanese guy and see for yourself. On the bulb, you will see a shield right around the middle part...this blocks light to put it bluntly. D2S does NOT has this shield.
Do you regret for not getting D2S?

Don't know about lumens but I know with candle power the numbers are deceiving. I had two Xenon flashlights made by the same company, 1 rated at 50,000 candle power and one rated at 65,000 candle power. Your eye couldn't distiguish any difference between the two.
I wonder what the threshold difference is to be noticeable to the eye.

D2S was never made for our car. Yes...might be brighter...more glare...blind more people while your at it, and give them more of a reason to try and ban H.I.D's.

Hey Randompajero, I'm still waiting for your reply on this question from another thread.....
You talk but ya don't answer? Hmmmm.
So you bought a D2R 6000K kit with a set of ballast's and hareness'?
If yes, continue:
You swaped the stock Osram 4300K D2R with Phillips 6000K D2R?
If yes, continue:
You used the ballast's that came with the kit to power up the stock 4300K d2R's?
If yes, continue:
Now, all that makes sense because it will work.
My question is how these D2R bases are fitting into a 9006 base. They are different bases. Did you just push them on and they stayed on? Or was Crazy Glue involved?
I measured them and the D2R is aprox. 2.45 wide at the base and the 9006 is 2.0 on the same location.
Let us know how the D2R bulbs "fit" into a 9006 light housing. That would save 3 bills from the main/fog all w/ HID set up.
Beam direction or path is off I suppose..
Here is a comparison shot;

The problem I found with this board is people don't know 1/2 of what they're talking about....and yes, they still talk...
