Anyone here with Technical Knoweledge...

on how to increase power of 3.2 TL-S. I mean things like changing the cams, bore, stroke, port and polishing, supercharging etc... I love my TL-S and want to start messing with the motor, however have not found alot of technical data on this forum on how to really gain additonal 50 - 150 hp.

Thanks,
Rick

I am not aware of any member swapping out cams, etc. You might check on the acura-cl.com board. Right now, there is the CT supercharger out "soon"and the 3.5L engine swap. There is a shop out here called Factor X Motorsport. They can/will do about anything. Factor X is in process of moving to Las Vegas Motorspeedway. Their website is:

I'm assuming you've searched for information about the Comptech supercharged... estimated 50+ hp to the wheels w/ equal amount of torque... Threads on cleaning up the throttle body and actually increasing the diameter... smaller pulleys, headers, exhaust, intake, V-AFC controller ..

You should also head over to acura-cl.com and do a search on the 3.5 Liter upgrade.....

OK, I must be a dumbass or I'm not looking hard enough. Showing topics on the 3.5 upgrade, but nobody really says how the extra displacment is being made..is it either a bore/ stroke or combo of both over the 3.2? Also what would the cost be and the approx. HP and TQ gain?

Also, does anyone know the cam profile on the TL-s motor compared to the standard TL motor? I'm trying to figure out exactly when and where the power comes in on these upgrades.

TLS

Bore & Stroke 3.50 in. x 3.39 in. (89 mm x 86 mm)

RL

Bore & Stroke 3.54 in. x 3.58 in.

so it looks like both head and pistons no? compression of the RL is lower than teh TLS 10.5:1 compared to 9.6:1 for the RL. So it looks like the 3.5 upgrade will be more forced induction friendly.

The 3.5 upgrade looks to me to be the way to start. It will add some nice low end grunt. I have no idea what the numbers are, but I'm guessing it's going to add about 40 or so crank hp.

I believe if memory serves me right that the 3.5L upgrade is based off of MDX parts versus RL parts because the MDX's engine is more closely related to the TL/CL.

(I'm not a car expert though so dont quote me on that)

Does anyone know the maximum stroke length you can acheive with the 3.2 block? Is 3.5 the max displacemnt with this block? Much prefer a longer stroke vrs. a larger bore with this particular motor since it curently makes most of its HP at a higher RPM.

I'm assuming also with the 3.5 upgrade this would come with the heads as well? Using the stock 3.2 heads would leave part of the cylinder shrouded by the smaller bowls.

you are right, same bore on the MDX adn TLS...so it's probably just the head and not to the pistons in the 3.5 liter upgrade. The compression only comes down a little to 10:1. But if the TLS/CLS handles boost fofmr the comptech unit fine at 10.5:1, then 10:1 will be better, een if just a little bit.

3.5 in x 3.66 in (89mm x 93 mm) for the MDX

Now rumor is that the next MDX is going to be a 3.8 liter...now if it has the same bore at 3.5 inches...woudln't that be nice :>) A 3.8 liter upgrade could be in the works for the TLS. Just a thought. But I am assuming it will have a larger bore.
