Anyone else??

I've seen numerous threads and posts regarding Acura quality issues, but is there anyone else like me here who has owned the TL without any problems?

I own a 2000 TL with 28,000 miles and have not been back to the dealer once

I bought the car brand new in Feb 2000, and have not had one problem or issue with my car.

Am I the only one? I'd like to see some more "boring" posts from folks saying "no problems here"

If you really think about it, this ought to be the longest thread on the board because we all bought these wheels for pretty much the same reason!

56,000 on '99 TL, replaced rotors free of charge once, and an intake sensor. Very pleased. I resolved all the squeaks and rattles myself.

well aside from the gas guage misreads and my cd player not playing certain cdrs (both were fixed under warrenty). My 99TL is perfect with 44k. I love it, even more then my new 350Z.

i have a 2000 tl with 109,000 miles no real issues other than 1 replaced tranny at 79000 miles and i attribute that to my driving and pulling a 21 foot mastercraft ski boat just about every weekend

24 500 miles in 15 months and no major problems other than the ubiquitous moonroof squeak, center console closure problem and a minor dash rattle after the install of my XM Radio system, all resolved.

(Knocks on wood regarding tranny)

no problems here on my 99 TL with 40 K. Asside from me needing 2 new front tires from burning out and the damn cd player not playing cdr's and my strange, intemittant small oil leak I'm a happy camper. Yes I've got rattles too but I just turn up the music

02 tls w/no probs. 23K (knock on wood), ya you probably would not see too many post up just to let everyone know you havent had a problem yet, and so many people post thier problems to warn others what to look out for because same model cars tend to have similar problems

4000 miles and everything is o.k. Gas mileage actually is starting to improve. Averaging 31 on a nothing but highway trip.

2000 TL with 27k and only rotors needed to be resurfaced. Besides that, absolutely perfect.-Nard.

I got my TLS February 28, 2003 and I would love to see more "boring" post saying no problems with previous model TL's. You guys were starting to scare the crap out of me with these noises here and there. I didn't even play my radio yesterday trying to listen for things. I appreciate the heads up and all but I've gotta just enjoy this ride.

There are a few traits about the TL that are relatively common such as the roof squeek, center console lid latches, etc but as far as most of the stuff I fix @ work every day are usually caused by the customers themselves. I will tell you this much, change your tranny fluid every 5k miles with HONDA fluid and nothing else. Most tranny problems are caused by DIRT clogging the A/B lock up control solonoid(the one that engages the clutches) causing slow shifts. slipping, banging, and all that other good stuff. Honda fluid is far superior to ANYTHING on the market and helps prolong tranny life. And dont even think of putting any additives in there either. May even make things worse. I am just letting you all know this beacuse it will help keep your cars shifting right. I may sound a little extreme by saying change your tranny fluid so often but trust me I know....I change mine every 3k with my oil. I work for Acura service and I see it all the stuff you guys talk about every day. Hope the knowledge helps a little.

How about 142,000 miles on an '00 (sales rep) and so far: on 3rd set of rotors, one seat belt latch, one heated seat pad and an idler pulley, that's it. Same tranny with fluid changed every 22K, honda fluid. I will tell you this, car still looks great inside and outside. My goal is 300K...will keep you guys posted. Using Amsoil now.

I have 10k on mine and will take it back to the dealer because of the rattle noises from the sunroof and rear deck.

Just got my 2003 TL and nothing wrong yet!!! Better knock on wood! I just hate to see problems in the future. I was thinking about the Audi before the TL , but the guy next door has one.... brand new 2003 and has had it in the garage (won't start and wont shift out of 1st gear) 3 times all ready; with only 12,000 KM on it. He is ready to get rid of it. In all I love my TL so far and hope to have many pleasent driving miles!!

The fluid couldn't (or at least shouldn't) break ever 3000 miles. Are the trannies so crappy that metal parts are clogging the screen ever 3000K? If that's the case, that tranny will go anyway.

Yeah agree with 2ONPAR5. Every 3k miles is ridiculous and costly (unless you drive 10k miles or less per year. I drive over 27k/year.) Might as well change it with every tank of gas in that case. While I dont mean to knock the original poster above, its easy for him to say he changes the fluid that often because he works in the Acura shop, so he has access to the fluid real cheap and has the lift right there in the shop. Not as easy to do laying on the floor of a cold garage. But more importantly, the TL is no Ferrari that needs such painstaking care. I have had many automatics in my day, and i never had the fluid changed but maybe once in the lifetime of the car, and I never had a lick of trouble from any of them. Preventative maintenence is a good thing, but the above advise seems to go to the extreme.
