Anybody here don't have door dings?

Finally I got it! door ding!

My TL has only 600 miles and got two door dings. I know my damned city is known for car damages, so I rented parking lot for $90 /month.

But shiit happens again! An Rav4 always park besides me very closely, when I foudn this I moved my car away alittle from him, but when I come back in mornings, it becomes close again! It must be hime who put ding on my baby.

Sorry for the long narration, but I wonder how you guys deal with door dings? Have anybody used "ding-king" ?

34K miles and no door dings. I've had a couple of hood dings from trucks in front of me, though. But like most of the other paranoid TL owners I try to park in the boonies to lessen the chances that some doofus will ding my door.

But what are ya gonna do? Some folks are just jerks.

Later,

V.

Be carefull because i know people who will key your car for doingthat. Plus i think it is very arrogant to take up more than one spot. I just park really far away from someone or pull next to a parking island and pull as close to the curb as posible as to leave lots of roomon the other side. I NEVER park next to minivans of family types of cars just for the whole reason kids fling open doors.

60K and I just got the smallest of dings; I have to hike to wherever I go after I park my car.
Even so, some dingbat always parks next to me even thought I'm near the end of the lot...Why??

i park at the closest spot to the door of where ever i'm going, and luckily never been dinged... though i did get a ding once in my driveway, b/c my sister dinged my car with her car door.... it sucked but i got it fixed at some x-a-dent or something like that, really did a good job, no paint or anything was needed... can't even tell it was there... i think it costed like 70 bucks, not sure, might have been more....

No dings thank goodness! Don't it piss you off though? I kept having to get them popped out when I had my Civic. Parking sucked on campus so I seemed to have a new one every week.

I have not gotten a door ding since 1993. I never take two spots, just look for an end and park really close to the far side or park really far away.

Although, for the last year, I have always taken my Jeep to the super market and the mall and left the TLS at home.

No matter how careful I am, I still get them. Funny thing is, I don't care anymore!

THanka guys for sharing your stories. Do you guys know any paintless dent fix store in Philly area? Can you recommend one?

One of my dings is on the driver's window frame. I don't know if it is fixable, because it seem there is no room behind the sheet metal so that the tool can stick into. Any thought?

A&H Motorsport (Horsham) does it. Call them for a quote.

I'm so paranoid to post this, but I have 35,500 on my TL with over 3 years of driving and no dingys get. This includes 3 years of parking at the parking lot of my college where every idiot in the world drives. I'm careful where I park--very careful actually. People always make fun of me for it, especially girls. I always yell at them for laughing at me because it's my car and if they don't like it they can get a ride from someone else. I'm just curious though, do you ever get yelled at for being careful to protect your rides with far away spaces and stuff?

Noam

Patty,

My girlfriend quarrels frequently with me about being paranoidly careful about cars. She doesn't want to park far away from the entrance when we go to super markets.

After getting the first ding, I threat to dump her if I get the next ding due to parking in the crowd of other crappy cars.

Re: Anybody here don't have door dings?

When I visit the supermarket, shopping mall or home center, I go there late when there are not too many people shopping and the parking lots are almost empty. Even then, there is always the idiot who leaves dozens of empty spaces in the lot to park right next to me. Go figure.

yeah, you have to look at it alone the surface of body panels. Some dings are not very visible.

I got one when the car was only 3 weeks old by some credent in an 85' Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale. He parked the car next to mine to unload his kid and girlfriend. Then moved the car somewhere else. I found the car and waited for him to come back to it. I asked if this was his car. He said "Yea". He asked what was the matter. I said his car parked next to mine in another part of the lot and I now have a door ding from his back door. I later proved this to him by showing him the white paint from my car wedged in the chrome trim of his rear door. While I was showing him this I was calling the local Police to fill out a property damage report. The cop comes and immediately took my side. Now I'm a fairly clean-cut and respectfully dressed kind of guy and this defendant here is about 27 with his head shaved, dirty clothes, baseball hat and a, ugly tattoo on the right side of his neck. After he and his GF emphatically denied even parking next to my car one of the children that was in the car with them admitted that they were.

The GF said the car belonged to her Aunt (lives in Ky.) and that she carries all kinds of insurance on her vehicles. GF hands the cop an expired insurance card, which I later called about but coverage was dropped on this car about a year prior. Why? Because the car’s title car notarized out of the Aunt’s name a year ago and the car was given/sold to the GF! My question is this. Why does the car carry plates from Ky. that are still valid? So someone forged a name to get current tags from Ky. when the real owner lives in Ohio as I do. On top of all than the driver of the car has a suspended license and the GF has only her temporary learner’s permit!

The cop couldn’t do anything but make out a damage report because all this was on private property. So, yup! I got screwed out of that one.

BTW- Dent Wizards took out the dent pretty well for about $100. The paint scrape is still there but I’m afraid to try to buff it out ant more than I did. The paint on these cars is just so blasted THIN I fear I’ll hit primer before too long and I’m not looking forward to $800 worth of paint work being done to one fender.

Door Dings? That's nothing. The other day in my own garage my rake fell down from the wall and nailed the a-pillar, & passenger door frame, scratching the sh*t out of both. Needless to say, I took it out on the rake and mangled it and threw it in the bushes.
