Spoke to a paintshop guy and he started explaining how there are vast different grades of paint...some made to last only a year and others made to last 5-6. The one-year cheapos will dull early and will have durability issues.

Is it possible Acura used a lower-grade paint...like "Omni" and THAT is the real reason...and not this EPA-mandated regulations are causing the paint to suck? Any professionals out there that can enlighten those of us with paint issues?

I do know that the Final Plan of the EPA is "ALL WATER BASED PAINT!" That's for everything, your lawn furniture, your house and your car

That may be the "final plan" but among the 3 body shops I've spoken with, neither has even mentioned "water-based paint". Are these guys out of the loop?

When Gore was in office and running the EPA that was plan.....Less toxic paint......Water based paint was a generality...

I don't discuss politics but it seems like Gore's push on paint is far from what would need to be done to stop pollution. I guess the paint manufactuerers in the nation just didn't pump enough money along with their lobbyists!

We still have big corporations causing far more pollution and we have to suffer with sucky paint jobs! Figures!
