Any MUST-DO's to the 99 TL that I just picked up?

Hi folks, just traded in my 2002 mustang gt for a 99 TL -- I love the car so far, so much nicer than the GT, but are there any little must-do's I shouldn't live without? I'd like to get the burlwood shift knob but it seems outrageously expensive..not really looking for anything big right now, just some little stuff, and I'd like to get a cd changer head unit out of a 2000+ that will play cd-r's..thanks for all of your help!

..just a quick question would you guys reccomend putting a cd changer in the car or replacing the head unit with a newer one?
Thanks!

Chrome out your shift plate, and put in a system. The stock Bose sucks.

hey good purchase bud!

I also have a '99. I would deffinately recommend 100% taking off your intake resonator and replasing your air filter with a K&N. The intake resonator is like a muffler for your intake - to make the engine quiet. Removing it, gives your car some more sound, especially when you hit VTEC 4000RPM +. Just do some searches on this, and you will find the instructions. It took me about 30 min or so and I got the filter off Ebay for 35$. Or you could get a Short Ram Intake for some more sound, hp, and looks under the hood. Go to the top of this page and you will see a link for "intakes".
Also, IMO the stock system sucks big time!!! I took the time and money to replace everything with a quality system that makes the car so much more fun to drive.
Other than that...headers, exhaust, rims, body kit....the mods possibilities are not as extensive as with your old car, but they are fun to do! good luck and shot me an email if you have any other questions. newman8350@aol.com

thanks for the warm welcome..to be perfectly honest i've had almost enough modding with my GT when i had it..it was the loudest car on the block, so im not looking to make the TL any louder..im done with that and im done with messing with the engine, i just wanna do a little bit to set the TL off from the others, im actually fairly happy with the stock system, had enough modding with that as well in the stang, what kind of external cd changers are compatible with the TL's? any ideas? Also, what'd be the best place to tap into 12v to hardwire my radar detector in? Thanks again for all of your help

For power get yourself the headers(obx and stone are about $400 and comptech is $1000+), For sound, get cold air intake or exhaust, stereo, get some new speakers and a sub for better sound. I have a 99 and i wasnt happy till i got the headers, exhaust and intake on together. Apart they are good, together they are great. Aside from that, pullies and spark plugs did nothing.
