Anti-Theft options

There have been an increased spike of car theft in my area recently. (JC has always been known for stolen car problems) These days it is hitting places too close for comfort.

My buddy's integra has been stolen stripped 3x in the past year alone.

I currently use a CLUB (lost my keys, for decoration use only), factory default engine cut off anti-theft device, and I also installed Lo-JACK.

I am wondering, what other measures are people taking?

And have any one had any exp relating to their cars (acura tl) being stolen?

What do theives commonly look for in TL models?

Recently, in my area, cars seem to be stolen for their xenon lights more than the actual car itself.

club doesn't work cuz those thiefs can actually cut the steering wheel.

TLs are popular among headlight thiefs.

Lo Jack is also waste of money, in my opinion. By the time u find your car it will be in wrech already. But, it does lower your insurance a bit so...

Clifford Intelliguard 7000. This was one my first mod It definately calmed my nerves a bit knowing I had an aftermarket alarm. My fav feature is Blackjack (Anti-car jacking feature) and the early warning shock sensors.

Our stock alarm sux big time. It'll only go off if you open the doors. There are no shock sensors at all. A thief can steal your headlights without setting off the stock alarm. Pretty scary.

jesus you're in jersey city?? You can cement your car to the ground and chizzle your way out every morning, thats if the thieves don't chizzle it out first.

Seriously though Jersey city i think in the top 3 cities for car theft in the nation, they'll flatbed your car outta there if they really want it. My advice is park it in a secure location and maybe use a car cover so it's not noticeable....some cheap ways to deter thieves...

The day after my wheels got put on I got the Viper XV750 responder alarm installed w/ shock sensors, auto start, keyless entry, trunk pop, back up battery, back up alarm (supposedly unbreakable) and a pager with LCD so I can monitor my car at all times. My mind is at peace now

Can some people list the after-market alarms they have installed with possibly even a link to specifications, more info, and even some pictures?

As we like to say in JC... Cover me, I am going to go get a loaf of bread.

All jokes aside. I am very curious what acura owners around the country use to protect their prized possesion. I want to know if any one is willing to share their exp.

The best advice some one once told me was to park the car in the garage and never drive it.

That same person had his garage broken into the other week when he was on vacation and the thiefs towed his car away while he was on vacation.

It is ashame that we live in the best country in the world, but we probably have a higher stolen car rate than iraq or afgahnistan

Again, cover me. Time for me to log off.

I'm from Essex County and my car got vandalized a couple times, my CL and then my TL 2 fcukin days before the alarm got installed. since that, no problems. I got a Viper300 w/ the proximity sensor to keep people from even considering messin w/ it. i considered the LCD one but i ended up gettin a video camera for the front yard so that it anyone messed w/ it, i'ld know who it was. plus the LCD one was a lil pricey.
But after i put the alarms on both cars...no problems. Plus they have engine kills in them as well.

ferrari527 my car got stolen and it had auto lock, plus alarm.
So don't trust auto lock that much it is better than the club for sure. It was a 94 Accord EX. Now I got a 99TL and I love it.

How do these work exactly.>>>>>
What is fuel cut?
What do they mean by manual or disable or something like that?
What is engine kill?
Also do you have to pay a monthly fee for the LCD pager?
If so how much is it?

Thanks.

I think the thief stole the car by using a flatbed truck

TLNY, I can answer just a couple of those questions for you, engine kill is pretty self explanitory, the car can be completely disabled. And there is no monthly charge for the LCD pager, it comes with the alarm, and the pages are sent over an FM frequency. No montly charges.
