Amsoil is one of the best synthetic oils on the market. However, I still would be wary of going 25k without an oil change. Even if you go that far, you'd still need to change the oil filter sooner and you'd need to dump an extra quart of oil in.

I personally know an Amsoil distributor that has gone over 50K with the same oil in his car.. (an old mini-van). The catch is that he changes the oil filter every ~6 months. But he's sent the oil in for analysis each time and it comes back as good. So it sounds like the oil itself can last the 25k.

Personally, I use Mobil 1 5w30 and change it every ~5000 miles or 6 months whichever is sooner. I do use an Amsoil oil filter though since Mobil 1 filters are kindof hard to find.

You can get it from www.amsoil.com ... The model thats made to fit our cars is the SDF-20, although supposedly the SDF-40 large capacity filter will fit our cars too but when I bought the SDF-44 it didn't fit!

I used amsoil, but switched to mobil 1, since to me there isn't a difference and you can go 10K on both.

It's great on my wallet too, since M1 is $19 for 5 qts. and Amsoil is $5-7 a quart.

Unless you invest in an expensive bypass filtration setup, you'll never achieve 25K on one fill.

check this synthetic oil life study.

Well, thanks for the advise. I thought same thing about 25000 interval. But surprised that last that long... and better than mobile 1. I might try that one next oil change. should I? or stay with Mobile 1?

Whoa!...this is news to me. I've been buying SDF-44's for a couple of oil changes now and they fit just fine. An Amsoil SDF-44 is the same size as the Mobil1-M105 oversized filter.

Yeah I dunno ... I tried to get it to fit but the seal was way too big ... It would have started to leak oil out if I left it in there.. I dunno, I'll double check but I think I got SDF-44's ... My email receipt says SDF-44.

Maybe the 2003 TL-S doesn't work with the SDF-44? Haha, that'd be funny.

Stay with mobil 1, your wallet will thank you. There really isn't a large difference between brands, enough to justify the large price difference anyway.
