Almost lost my wife last night...

My pregnant wife was on her way home from work and suddenly she lost control of the TL and spun out on the freeway. Miraculously, she was not hurt nor was the car damaged. When i examined my car, upper arm of the after-market rear camber kit (driverside) snapped off causing her to lose control.

It was a terrible ordeal last night. Car was stuck on the shoulder and was unable to drive. Called the towing company and they didn't want to risk damaging the car during the process of putting the car on the flatbed since the car was lowered. I sat and wait for 2 hours for my friend with tools to call me back so we can do some repairs to replace my broken arm with the stock one. He never picked up the phone....

I waited a bit more and I saw cal-trans truck putting cones around the area where the car was. They had a scheduled construction yesterday night. They block off one of the freeway lanes and one of the on ramp. Being desperate, I asked one of the cal-trans guy and the cop at the scene if i can drive up the on ramp going the opposite direction and they surprising said ok. The cop even escorted me to the nearest parking lot. I was crawling 5mph.

My car sat in a Jack in the Box parking lot for good 1 hour. I was getting pissed off and tired when I noticed a guy approaching me. After he came by, he kept pointing at his jacket. I didn't really pay attention until i looked at it more closely. His jacket was labeled with "ACURA." He was an acura mechanic that worked out of Riverside Acura. He offered to help me out once I told him what the deal was. At this time, I felt so damn lucky!

After the work was done, i offered to compensate him when i drop by the dealership, but he refused. This guy was the coolest mechanic. His name is Mike G - something from Riverside Acura in CA. I am planning to write a letter to corporate and cc a copy to the dealership thanking him.

Anyhow, I find it hard to believe that my camber arm snapped. Has anyone else experienced this in the past? It was the part where it bolts in... it looks like it snapped due to too much pressure. The brand I have is called Revo Technica.

I am in the process of parting out my car..... If i can't get a good trade in for the car... i guess the car would have to stay. If I do keep the car, what brand of camber kit do you guys recommend? I need somehting reliable so that it won't kill my wife and my unborn son...

That's horrible story. At least, your wife is safe and so is the car.

I want to get new camber kit too because my ride is jittery and never comfortable compared to my friend's identical TL-S.

and yeah, write a good letter for the mechanic!!

I am glad to hear your wife and son are fine!!!

I am shocked that the camber arm snapped! That's crazy... I have the SPC camber kit on my ride... I hope they are of a reasonable build quality...

I have a wife and 2 kids that I am not willing to put at risk...

Again, good to hear that no one was hurt...though I am sure there are some rattled nerves...

Revo Technica. They're pretty popular with accords and the rsx ppl. I suggest you stay away from them.

I would ditch the camber kit altogether. You don't really need it. Tire wear without it is minimal.

Sorry this happened! What a terrible story!

Eek, that must've been a terrorizing experience for your wife. I'm glad to hear that she escaped without any injuries.

As for the camber kit, I've never heard of Revo Technica. Can you post some pictures of the broken camber kit? Either ditch the whole camber kit like HeelToe said, because you probably don't really need it with a Comptech springs drop, and go back to the factory control arm, or change them out with Ingalls or SPC. The rear SPC camber kit on my car has been through some extremely abusive driving and I haven't had any problems. You should be able to find them for just over a hundred bucks or so.

That was cool of the Acura mechanic, though. How did he fix it? Did you have the tools and the factory control arm with you??

Looks like a bad welding job that caused the failure.

Control arm/camber kit should not break like that under normal driving conditions unless there's a great amount of lateral force, such as sliding sideways into a curb or something. I would give Revo Technica a call and see what they have to say about this.

I agree, unless you are real low. I have had the Comptech springs on (older ones) for over 25k miles. My tires wear just fine.

but I am very sorry for your wife - glad she is ok

I just got back from the infiniti dealer and my wife loves the FX35 AWD. I'm going to part out Friday and buy the car on saturday. So it's an early bye bye to my baby.

Look at the "sale" section what I am getting rid of. I prices will be negotiable now.
