Would some of technical gurus know how to hook this up with our bose system if we are to take the stock radio out ?

a double din adapter is sold that fits in place of the stock bose unit. so you have to find a device that fits in a double din slot, get the metra harness for the speakers, then you can hook everything up thats extra for the unit like power, line in, apple product wires and such. shouldn't be to hard if you can find a device that fits in standard double din. there is plenty of room under the dash to run stuff and hide gadgets once the bose unit and bose eq box is out

I just read through the FAQs that it sends the audio fromt the headphone jack through 3.5mm to whetever is needed at the other end. I assume the other end, in our case, would be the metra harness ? In this case, audio is routed directly from iphone to speakers. Is this really gonna work witout an amp ?

The metra harness plugs into the stock wiring harness of the of what the bose unit uses to power the door speakers, so you dont need to hard wire everything off of the aftermarket head unit. The metra harness links an aftermarket headunit into the cars wiring harness, without having to cut wires, (unless you want the stock sub to work).

most aftermarket head units have an amp built into them. You would use the pre amp signal if you wanted to use an external amp. the stock bose unit has its own internal amp for the door speakers, but the sub woffer has a small 100 watt external bose amp.

I saw this a coupple days ago, its so cool.

NOTE: Be prepared to jailbreak your iphone for this.
Those swipe jestures are all jailbreak tweaks.

Another thing is i dont see how this can interface with an iphone, that is relocating the touch aspect of it, without some sort of jailbreak application install.

well, it appears that mimics is fits a standard double din dash adapter, so it should be easy to get that in our cars since double dins adapters are available. The mimics unit might need some special wiring, but that should be the least of your worries since it can fit in our dash and replace the stock bose unit.

it also looks like you need an amplifier to go along with mimics, mimics probably has pre amp out, which will have to go to a 4 channel amp for the doors.

EDIT :^^^ ur right, u beat me to it

From where I see, it needs an after market amp to power up the audio when you install this in place of the stock radio. I'm not sure the unit has an amp built in to it. Its looks like a screen and and the module to send and recieve video and data signals for touch screen inputs. The audio is send from the iPhone's headphone jack, which is a down side. If this thing has a amp built in, it makes things much easier. One other thing is that we lose am/fm radio. Would have to go through iphone over 3G if u want those stations. I dunnu how long my 6Gigs would last now.

so you need a Mimics unit, a 4 channel amp for the door speakers, and a double din dash adapter. Then a crap load of wires to hook everything up, so its plenty possible to get this to work in our cars, to answer your original question.

if you wish to keep the stock bose sub, it may be a pain to get to work with the mimics unit if it doesnt have a att turn on signal and sub pre amp output. Either way to get the stock bose sub woffer to work you do need to cut a wire or 2. i forget exactly how i got mine to work with my kenwood reciver, but it wasnt too hard. there is a thread on how to do that.

What I'm thinking about right now is if there's a way to install this horizontally where the card tray is above the factory radio. Built a pull-out mechanism to bring the screen out and up. Hook the audio in to the factory 14 pin through blitzsafe adaptor and call it a day. Best of both worlds

i doubt this mimic unit is thin enough to to do that with. do you have a measurement on its depth?

why are you set on keeping the factory bose unit?

Not necessarly. If I take stock unit out n put aftermarket amp, where can i install that and which one would suggest for the stock speakers? Ideal would be small enough to put it behind dash since mimics unit is not taking lots of space like factory or other radios but I dont see it possible. Probably would have to put it in the trunk and run wires all the way back, just adds to the mess.

FAIL, It doesnt charge the iPhone! Ill Keep my Kenwood Interface isnt Fancy as that but at least it keeps my iPhone charged and Happy.

Besides I really doubt the Dock type Music Quality match the ones from the "Made for iPhone" Interface, I have listened to other music Stereo crap that docks with the iPhone but arent really made for it and the music sound like muffled... Lows hits horrible just like it was a Mono Source.

Also too much Distraction available, This is a Nice way to crash.. Checking facebook in a Stop? Not a very wise idea.

the mimic is thin...its basically the screen plus a chip the size of a pc video card... if you already hav a 7" touchscreen all you hav to do is swap the modules.... i hav a avic 6" i wouldnt do it...but if i wanted to i cant..HAS to be 7" for the swap.. or buy the whole unit.... which is in fact thin..unlike a headunit...which goes far in...
