Alarm question
Today I went to unlock my TL with the key instead of the remote. When I unlocked it and pulled the door open the alarm started to go off. I tried starting the car, ect, and it didn't turn off. I finally got out of the car and locked the car and then unlocked it. It finally shut off. I googled how to turn the alarm off once it is on and I found that you have to unlock it with the remote. Anyone know if this is true?
Secondly, why would the alarm think the car is being stolen if I unlocked it with the key? Is it supposed to do that?

Factory alarm you should be able to start the car even if its going off, easy reset for factory alarm is to close the door lock and unlock with the key should reset.
Aftermarket alarm should kill the ignition, so you can't start even with the key, only way to deactivate these alarms is with the remote or the bypass switch if there is one installed

I can start the car fine. I just thought that it would turn off the alarm because that's how it is in the 1999 Grand Cherokee I own. So it is supposed to go off I suppose. Thanks.
