Aftermarket headlights or OEM

I have been looking at getting another set of OEM headlights and they around 300$ brand new. Reason being is mine keep turning yellow every year even though i clean them and polish them once a month. My question is, is there a big difference between oem and aftermarket headlights that say like oem? I dont mind spending the double on the headlights as long as it is worth it.

Go with OEM. I've had depo before, they're ok if you wanna get by for a short period of time but nothing beats OEM quality. Just buy brand new OEM and put a clear film over them. When they discolor then take the film off and put new film on.

I got the ones by TYC and couldn't be happier. I can't tell a difference between them and OEM.

About $95 a piece

They all seem to get a hazy clouded appearance through time being exposed to the elements. Cleaning and buffing, along with a quality sealant seems to be a temporary fix. I've often wondered about trying an ultra fine sanding of the lenses, followed up by an epoxy based clear-cote.

My original headlights lasted about 10 years before they started getting bad. However for the past few years I have to get them cleaned again to make them look good. I'm tired of spending money every year to get them cleaned so I'm buying a new set and figured I'll be good for a few years. Plus I'm going to do what tony03 suggested and use the clear film

Did you use one of the headlight polish kits?

that's actually a really good idea but dont you think that the clearcoat might start pealing of after getting heated by the headlight

i honestly don't think the plastic lens on the headlight reaches temps where it would affect the clear coat. clear coat is affected way more by sunlight (UV exposure).

I mean why send off headlights to get painted if you can do them yourself in a day? Not to mention you're only gonna spend 5 dollars on paint VS $$ shipping them out and then how much he's charging. Make it a DIY project man.

Main reason is I don't want to mess up a brand new set of headlights. Also right now with work and school I don't have much time. I don't mind spending the mony for somebody to do it that knows what he is doing.

Iv used Mother's Plastic Polish with great results. I applied it a few times and have gone years without yellowing, even with the road salt around here. Sunlight is the most damaging to any exterior plastic. Give Mother's Plastic Polish a try, just rub on a generous amount, let it dry to haze and buff off.

It appears as though you'll have a spare set of headlights for somebody to experiment with !

Yeah, sometimes certain things are better left to an experienced pro......especially when you
have limited time and are unsure of the finished project !

Def go with the OEM's. It's just so much more of a crisp and clean look.

Get one of the polishing kits. The polish comes with a uv protectant in it to help keep it from yellowing. Plus for 20 bucks and 30 min of your time its much cheaper
