Affordable add-on splitter kit from RonJon SD?

Ok, here's the deal, we are filling the need for the economic demand of lower cost with visual impact and high quality. The 2G TL has a decent amount of following, and it has limited options.

We will accomplish this by making a 6 piece splitter kit that bolts on from underneath, rather than a wrap around. With this method of attachment, we are able to make the splitter kit for both the 99-01 and the 02-03. We are also able to eliminate the R/D that takes so long to make the fitment tolerances so hard to achieve. 1-2mm in fitment makes no difference with a kit that bolts on with actual bolts from underneath as much as it does with a wrap around molded kit. This kit will also bring the ride height down 1.5" for aggressive style while not being overly distracting. The material we will be using is a very convincing Carbon Fiber style ABS plastic that is indistinguishable from the real thing, down to the clear coat and the weave pattern. It can be used as is with no paint and keep installation overall costs low. Or it can be ordered in prepped and primed for a paintable option.

Development for this project should be relatively quick since the engineering is so simple and design isn't overly detailed. Here's the initial design, there isn't alot of room to pay with, and this isn't supposed to be a dramatic styling mod, but it will be noticeable and improve the look of the TL, with paint it will be more noticeable.

All this for $480, ready to install:
(more angles coming soon)

I'm waiting for some samples of the material to arrive, but what i've been told, it's virtually indistinguishable from real CF. Now I might have to stand corrected, I just had a late teleconference meeting with my production manager, he told me the CF replica material is a little more expensive, but not by that much, maybe $100-$150 more, but we won't know until we see how big of a sheet we will need to make the full kit, and if we can make the whole six piece kit from a single sheet. But we will most definitely be making the $480 kit from ABS plastic prepped and primed a dark grey primer that doesn't need to be painted but will accept paint if needed. More info will be posted when it becomes available. More pics of the render coming soon.

Awesome, does one kit fit all? As in it fits '99-'03? And are you able to bolt on yourself? Ive always loved RonJon stuff, but some wheels can be pricey, great price, i can see myself easily picking one of these up.

i'm guessing front (1), sides (2 & 3), rear sides (4 & 5), and rear middle (6)

Yes, our plans are to accommodate both the 99 and 02 style front bumpers with the same kit. As far as I can tell, they have very similar if not the same under belly profile of the front bumper.

Typo, actually 5 pieces. but if it was six pieces there would be an extra piece between the exhaust openings.

Will this work along with an OEM or WW lip kit already installed or do you have to have the "stock" OEM side skirts and bumpers for this to work... a lot of us do not have the "stock" side skirts any more and are interested in this kit

really thought you were going to make a wrap around like the concept that you put out back in 05 or 06 that never got off the ground... (I found the thread yesterday but can not find it again today)... but I guess that type of kit would take a lot more r&d and might not be worth the costs on your end

was really looking forward to having another option besides the WW & OEM wrap around lip kits

would love to see a concept rendering of this splitter kit attached under an OEM or WW lip kit

i'd realllly like to see more effort put into replacing the stock valances.

instead of adding on, making real lips and skirts.

but i dont own one anymore so who am i to speak...

good luck with it.

you should make a roof spoiler out of the same material as well.

there is no ebay $70 roof spoiler for us like there is with the 3Gs. it would be nice to see a decent 2G "Carbon Fiber" or painted roof spoiler priced around $75 to $100. i feel like that would be a big seller, especially if it looked like the Sarona style.

it looks ok, probably better with a lip kit

while your at it might as well make a oem lip kit rep (with better material then fiberglass) or a WW kit with the fins cut off haha

working on getting a 2nd Gen TL in the booth to build the kit. We will need the car for 10 days, and 2 other visits. You will get a free kit in exchange for the donor car. email me for the address, it's in South Gate, CA.

East coast is not where the kit is going to be built. We are starting the 4G TL kit now, then the 2G TL is next. We will first need a 2G TL on the west coast close to South Gate, CA to have a measuring session.

So the whole kit is going to cost $480? or just the front splitter? Looks good i like the design nothing too crazy. Are there going to be more design options as well?
