Aem cai install question
I am probably going to try to install my cai tomorrow, i have a 2000 tl so it's the two piece version. I tried test fitting the by-pass valve between the two pieces and it wants to slip off real easily when the clamps are tightened, due to the small lip at the end of the pipes. Any one have this problem? I know if i cut the lip off the pipes that it won't slip off, but i really don't want to do that.

dont cut the lip, it doesn't go inbetween the two pipes. choose one of the pipes and cut it in the middle using the template thats included. figure out where you have room first before cutting. hope that helps

I thought i read on here that the two piece intake did not require cutting to install the by-pass valve. How do i make it fit in-between the two pipes without it wanting to pop off when i tighten down the clamps?

I used to put aftermarket stuff in my cars because the stock systems were complete crap.
Now that I'm 30 I have other priorities and the system in my car isn't one of them.
The TL system is "good". Its got the typical Bose mushy sound but I'm not going to mess with it.
The head unit is ok. Doesn't do a few things I think it should do. Random play should play from all 6 discs not just 1. Even if I hated the head unit I couldn't replace it because I would no longer have Navi audio.
Most head units that I have seen installed in TLs seem to cheapen the interior (my opinion). Mainly because the TL unit is pretty big and what you put in is standard DIN. What's left is cheap plastic filler. Yuck.
If I were to do any changes to the system I think I would put in tweeters in the doors and better subs in the trunk.
