i have 3.2 tl (1998) and my friend just got maxima 3.0 (1995),
i wondered if i can take him out, i mean i have bigger engine and
my engine is more advanced since its 98 and his 95,peace

I doubt it, the 95 Maxima autos were low 7's to 60mph your more like 8 something. If you had a 99 or 2000 it would be close!

dude go for it i had a 1996 2.5tl and i was like 1/2 car length behind a 95 maxima, when i raced him.

In 1995 there were two engines (someone correct me if I'm wrong) .. a 3.0 160hp nissan engine and a 3.0 190hp engine that was new for 1995.5 .. which one does your buddy have .. could me a world of difference...

Nope - in '94 there were two engines, with the 190 in SE models. Starting in '95, all models got a 190 HP, 205 ft/lbs engine - that was when Nissan started winning all the engine awards for the VQ.

Hey fellow TLers ... I was paying a visit to Maxima.org and boy did i get sick and tired of all those maximas winning all their racing encounters ... NOT 1 MAXIMA LOST A RACE.....WOW... 1 guy posted in a thread that he beat a TLS by 3 car lengths .... wha kinda of S*** was he smoking.... i would like to know... and then their was a guy who beat a GS430 by 1 1/2 cars lol .. o my god ...and finally to put the whipped cream on top of the cake another guy beat a wrx from the line ...... o please ...... i think i am gonna buy that 350 hp maxima that everyone's talking about ...lol ..lol... o by the way he had a auto at that .... i would think that a 6spd maxima is more of a challenge than a scappy auto. Speaking of bias check out the maxima.org aka B***s***ers..... and then come back and tell me wha do you fellow TLers think... >>>> never lost to a maxima yet <<<<<< and i say yet because i know that it can happen ....unlike on the threads on maxima.org .... they can never be beaten ... i cant wait to the tracks open back up.... That’s nothing... Those same people visit the Car&Driver forums and post the same kind of crap to an audience that is VERY diverse. Its so bad, there’s a pack of about 5 of them that hijack every Honda thread on all kinds of topics and hijack them.. slam the Hondas/Acuras and proclaim the Nissans are literally the best cars made. Jesus.. They even troll this board with this crap. Visit C&D forums some day and see for yourself. I swear to god there’s about 2-3 people on that board that are actually paid by Nissan as marketers to behave like this.

God, Nissan was almost bankrupt 3 years ago, they have 1 good year and every Nissan troll on the planets on full force attack.

If you have the 4 speed, you will probably lose. I recall that the 5 speed tl was about the same as an auto Max of that era. The 1995 maxima was the fastest maxima of that generation. In fact, it is faster than the 2k, 2k1 Max also because of the weight. It also had much less emissions standards than the Maxs after 1996. In 1997 they added insulation and some other stuff so it became heavier. The 1995 Maxima could probably do mid 7s with auto and mid 6s with manual.

Just go for it and see. what is the harm

Nope not true there are several threads over their were Max owners talk abou t a loss. Over their that is one thing that they do they will tell if they lost and have no shame of course you will get a few exagerrations, but that tends to happen here as well!

EZZ .... its unbelievable has a 2k3 auto maxima can beat a tls by 3 car lengths and then you have everyone in that thread co sign that.... unreal..... I am not bias but i have never lost to a maxima and i raced against drivers that race for a living and they even admitted that the tls is a bit faster ... dont get me wrong the maxima is a good car ... but lets not compare that vechile with the tls ... there is no comparision ... 1 car gets rented anywhere u go and the other is a luxury car that holds its value..... peace

Dude, the Nissan badge itself adds 47 horsepower so I don't know what you're talking about. Talk to the hand. Jeez, what were you thinking? The Maxima is way out of our league. It's hangs with the big dogs like GS430s, Corvettes, Vipers, and on several occasions the M5 manuals as well. We have to admit, most of us here dream about owning a Maxima one day.

Chill dude. I said the 1998 TL might have a problem. I'm not comparing the tls to the 2k3 max. The original comparison was between the 1998 tl vs 1995 Max. I think the Max is faster because of the weight. Personally, I don't care if the tls is faster than the max. I just like both cars. In fact, I was considering one until all the trannys started bustin. Can't wait for the next generation
