Acura tech tells me new spring screw up tires

I drove down I-95 all the way down to Miami and I noticed a few problems so I decided to take it to an acura dealer in florida. The guy told me, among other things, that the aftermarket springs i got cause the tires to re-position and causes extreme wear to the inner part of the tire. He compared it to people who walk with their feet pointed outward....they have unusual wear on the inside of their sneakers. I think he is right about the springs because i have had to replace BOTH my front tires in just a few short months (my car is a 2002 tls). I just ordered new rims and wheels which should arrive later this week so i decided to wait until i get them installed to do anything about the situation. He advised that I should have some kind of kit installed (i forgot exactly what it was called) to remidy the situation. basically i need to do something because I cannot keep buying two new tires every 3 months. Thanks in advance for your input guys!!

Depending on how severe your drop is you may need to get a camber adjustment kit. Without it you will eventually wear out the inner part of the tire.

Comptech Springs really wear your tires. I had to replace my tires after 15k miles on them. The inner part of my tires were down to the metal.

You should get a camber kit and an alignment. It will definetly decrease the amount of tire wear.

I got comptech springs 1.25/1.5 drop. Any idea on how much the camber kit will cost and do dealers have them in stock?? And no i didnt get a wheel alignment after puttin the springs in eventhough I should of. It would of cost me less than buying two new friggin tires after 3 months.

I agree with Hyde. Wheel alignment after the drop is very important. And another good idea is to rotate your tires so that you get longer life from them!

You should wait atleast 2 weeks for the springs to settle down first, then do the wheels alignment. Also, rotate your tires around 3K miles or at every oil change will reduce uneven tire wears.

I never had a problem with my comptech springs. No uneven wear on my tires at all.

Me neither.
I've had my Comptech springs in for more than a year now. There has been no visible inner tire wear at all. Of course, I had my alignment after I got the springs installed.

I've had Comptech springs for over 3 years and 30,000 miles already. My 18s are probably only 50% worn. If you did an alignment and lowered with Comptech, your tires should not wear out that fast. Alot of times, when you lower your vehicle, it will tend to have toe-out. So if you do not get an alignment to correct that, the inside of your tires are going to wear out FAST.

you are correct is the toe that kill your tire. The camber also has an effect on the tire life, but not as bad as toe.

As for you acuratl, what tires are you running??? 3 yyears 30k miles ??????????? on low profile tires, damn even if my aligment is correct and my tires have high threadwear it would only last me 6 months or 15k to 20k miles. I'm sure it has to do a lot with my driving, but you don't seem like a guy that drives like grandma

Sorry, the car is leased so I am going to have to keep the stock rims in the garage.

No. Just make sure you get an alignment when the springs are installed.

You do not need a camber kit for Comptech Springs. Just get a alignment done. It will go back into specs like mine has.

yes, it does cause the tires to wear faster unless you have had the car properly aligned

You should get Camber Kits. You can be able to adjust the front camber but there is no adjustment on rear camber. Mine is negative camber now on the back(wear down inner part of tire just like yours) so I ordered SPC rear camber kit for my car looks like this.
